I honestly love how accessible this game is to those who haven't played fighting games like I have. Modern controls were thought to be broken but there are disadvantages to them. They're pretty balanced. It's basically the choice between controlling what types of attacks you can throw out, but you have to focus on execution, versus having set actions you can do easily, but you have no control over which kinds of them you can do, letting you focus on counters and punishes but mix-ups can be harder to do. I'm a classic control guy myself since I like the control over my moves, and it's just what I'm used to, but I don't think that modern controls are cheating like many fighting game players suggest they are. I definitely am enjoying myself in SF6 so far, that's for sure!

Can imagine the turbo nerds writing essays on r/StreetFighter on how this is bad but usual reddit am i right? but i'm glad and hope Tekken 8 aids new players to if a new Soul calibur drops and if a fighting game series long forgotten maybe comes back. Yea the Modern and classic controls have been around a while Ultimate marvel Vs Capcom 3 had them one button supers and it all think other games too but can't knock those getting into SF the presentation on SF6 is pretty cool.

@@M4TTYN This is such an unnecessary and unfair assumption. Majority of the sf subreddit is psyched at how many people are getting into the game. There's an entire discord that puts significant effort into helping new players acclimatize to the game aswell. If anything, it's comments like yours that put people off more than anything.

In the main FGC, modern controls are controversial and I wont lie when I saw that it was announced I was concerned and worried but honestly, seeing people who stayed away from SF due to the controls hop on and have a blast is honestly worth it. Absolutely amazing game, not just a FIGHTING game but just an amazing all around package. After years of dealing with SFV and MvCI, it warms my heart seeing this franchise explode again.

I feel like they did a good job striking a balance between the two control types, making it so one isn't necessarily dominant over the other, while giving people who aren't used to SF a way to more easily get into the actual meat of fighting games, that being the realm of mind games and sick reads. Charlie's definitely an example, you can see he's having a great time especially when you see him get a good read on someone.

I feel like people playing with modern control are going to get dunked on by more experienced player anyway so it's not a big deal. It makes it way more accessible to newcomers, like me. I don't give a damn about being a grand master at the game I just want to have fun without putting in 500hours just to get the muscle memory to do all that. If I never get in the platinum league that's fine I don't care.

Who stayed away from SF because of the controls? Quarter circle inputs are some of the easiest in gaming but I guess it's to much to ask of people these days. No one wants to learn even the simplest things so let's just make it easier for them. I don't see this as a good thing. It's like participation trophies for kids.

Even if you took out World Tour Mode the Battle Hub and Fighting Ground alone are so damn good that it could have stood by itself but World Tour just propels this thing to huge heights. One of the best fighting games I've ever played and I can't wait for all the dlc characters to be added since they're also getting added to World Tour mode as well
@nyrva2876
Жыл бұрын
Yes I'm genuinely impressed, I thought World Tour would be a Krypt thing like in mortal kombat, you spend an hour max in it and never go back. But no, it lets you see the world of Final Fight/Street Fighter while fighting multiple people at once, play mini games and dress your character the way you want. The modern control demo didn't make me think it would be worth my time. Glad I was wrong, you can play characters with multiple skills coming from the cast, even the supers. Like Ryu having Chun li lvl 1 super, Dee Jay level 2 super and Cammy level 3, how awesome is that?
@blazenfate
Жыл бұрын
Id argue opposite. Everyone I know, including me, who doesn't like or play fighting games, only got this because of the rpg aspect and weird final fight mix of the world tour and, of course, customization. The modern controls actually make me attempt pvp.
@nyrva2876
Жыл бұрын
@@blazenfate I understand but for long time fighting game fans, modern controls are unfair. I would have been totally fine if there were 2 seperate ranked "leagues", one for modern and one for classic. And when you're used to classic controls, there's no way to play it like smash bros, plus you lose control over your character by not having all kicks and punches available at all times. I could use it too, but I would get bored pretty quickly doing the same stuff over and over again.

Imagine having access to every Lego piece ever manufactured, in unlimited amounts, and being given 24 hours to build anything. Now imagine being given a single Harry Potter-themed Lego set, and being told to make something from Star Wars in the same timeframe. Now, how about every Harry Potter kit, and 24 hours to make anything from another fictional work? Which of the three scenarios do you think you'd turn out the best results in? Which one sounds like the most fun? Which sounds like the biggest pain in the ass? Limitations breed creativity, if only by encouraging a user to push or circumvent their boundaries. When those boundaries are commonly understood among users, your creativity becomes more appreciable to others -- whether they understand how you did something on sight, or have to message you asking for a slider recipe after the match.
