I didn't see Street Fighter in theaters due to a bad case of being only two at the time, and I never really got into fighting games, but I unironically loved the movie when I watched it a couple of years ago. I showed it to my wife a couple of months later, and we introduced it to a friend group of ours during her birthday. Sure, it's not game-accurate, and it's not exactly Shakespeare (though thankfully no one told Raul Julia that), but damn it, it just puts the biggest smile on my face, and there are far worse ways to exit this world than "for I beheld Satan as he fell from Heaven, like lightning!" Fun fact! The recent Blu-Ray comes with a Bison dollar!

In my mind, M. Bison doesn't actually have a first name - he's a Francophone, and is simply Monsieur Bison. I'm aware of the whole 'Mike Bison' kerfuffle, but I'm more amused by my own head-canon. Anyway, this video was both fun and insightful, and even though I'm not really a Street Fighter fan, it was a delightful watch. Lastly, speaking as someone outside the USA, I can confirm that Kylie Minogue is universally beloved and probably one of Australia's greatest gifts to the world.

Raul Julia gave an Oscar worthy performance in an otherwise dumpster fire of a movie. The man understood exactly what kind of movie it was and played his part as close to perfect as one could want. Reading about the production is sad as the director actually started out with a clear and focused vision, but it got destroyed by executive meddling from Capcom and constant cost overruns.

I remember playing the original Street Fighter in an arcade in Downtown Dallas when I was a teenager. But the only things that have stayed in my memory are the original designs for Ken and Ryu, and this particular cabinet had a peculiar gimmick: there were only buttons for punch and kick, and they were oversized soft rubber - about the size of a salad plate, and the action on them was so stiff you literally had to PUNCH the buttons. Often you'd see kids resorting to using their elbows after their hands got tired. Why they opted for this odd gimmick I couldn't say, I can't imagine it being good for the structural integrity of the machine itself.
