I especially doubt that when they live in a monocultural place in which English is never encouraged and a deep sense of being a Mexican culturally and socially takes precedent. If they are people who are proficiently bilingual they are doing it for a purpose. Not many are going to bend their will like that unless there is something really important about it. Otherwise they just want to work where everyone speaks Spanish, for example the textile factory in downtown- immigrant or not. Same thing then, same thing now.
