No one is even able to realistically assess BF anymore. Fitness youtubers have been lowering their numbers & lying about it for so long that the average perception of what 10% BF constitutes is skewed. Add to that the fact that the amount of lean mass you carry / your frame / your weight skews the perception of non-lean mass on a physique and you have a whole bunch of people who think that being 17% makes you fat.

Luca Guettner its quite apparent from what you’ve revealed about yourself that you’re someone who either (1) was likely largely inactive for a period of time such that your structural integrity decayed to the point at which you began experiencing chronic pain, (2) you’re someone that is active and trains quite poorly due to a lack of knowledge on how to train well to the point you developed chronic pain from over/misuse of loaded movement, or (3) someone that was improperly or incompletely rehabilitated from an old injury such that running a standard program for whatever your goal is was insufficient in delivering you expected results due to your structural shortcomings. what is certainly clear is that your knowledge base was pre-elementary prior to digesting content from jeff’s channel because jeff provides exclusively introductory content in the world of resistance training geared towards the reduction in the occurrence of injury. i’m not trying to belittle you by saying this and im not trying to talk bad about jeff’s business either. people need a point of introduction and those people, such as yourself, will benefit accordingly. on the other hand, jeff provides no material useful whatsoever insofar as guiding a lifter towards making progress and visualizing how they will continue to go about making progress because then he wouldn’t make any money selling his cookie-cutter programs. i’d strongly recommend you expand your horizons by actually learning about concepts in exercise science instead of just watching videos about exercise variations you probably haven’t heard of before. if your gains doubled, then its quite likely the case you just finished putting on your noob gains and its time to graduate. alexander bromley’s programming series is a good place to go next for you. athlean x is all marketing tactics, he’s likely exhausted his utility to you by now

Every so often he’ll release a vid where a power lifter demos a bench or some wwe athlete is in a workout & Jeff basically rides coattails to make it look like he can offer advice to these monsters when in reality it’s marketing and these incredible lifters would be good at what they did regardless if they ever met athlean x ever

Sergei Marinovic Garrido Lol I have 15s and am fairly lean and I’d say they look decent so gotta agree, but it does depend on your height, frame and the rest of your build. I’m average height and smaller framed, but 15s would prob not look anywhere near as big on a 6’3” unit with a large frame.
@adriansilva9841

Sergei Marinovic Garrido you guys aren’t wrong , the point it’s it’s subjective. the is point that the majority of fitness youtubers that get so much praise are smaller dudes in general,just lean. Hardly anyone actually is big besides competitors . Trust me being lean is awesome but it’s not worth being single digit bodyfat constantly and having your performance tank. naturals can get big as a whole and can get big arms but you can forget about it if you obsess about being single digit bodyfat and not eat enough an under recover from the TRAINING which is what gets you results in the first place . squandering your best years 18-30years old as a male,not a good idea. those years should be spent eating a lot and lifting like a maniac

You guys are right. I guess I'm tired of body dysmorphic internet standards. Real-world buff and Internet-buff are two whole different things. If you've been lifting consistently for a couple of years and do things moderately well you're top 5% regardless of what the "forever small" crew says

This is speaking to the mental health around fat and lean vs healthy. The dude you're talking about could n't emotionally get his body fat above 8 or 9% If he did I would be willing to bet that he would have some sort of emotional break. It takes a lot of effort to get down that low. Then you maintain that s*** for 5 years 10 years And you compound that is how you've made all your money. I've looked at his channel a couple times And it always feels like there is a reflection of my own mental health problems around food and eating. This s*** is insidious and not healthy in a lot of ways. Thanks for a great video

The most worrying thing about this video is the amount of people with no realistic perception of body fat percentages. I knew that people in fitness always underestimate their BF% by 5-10% to make themselves seem more impressive than they are, but that people are now saying that 10-12% or even 15-17% are “fat” is incredible. Social media has ruined an entire generation’s body image.

Guys, when you get into single digit body-fat (specific amount varies for individual), even your sex drive gets affected! This happened to me the one time I got down to my leanest ever physique. Greg Doucette and others have talked about this. So if even your sex drive gets fucked with by being that lean, what do you think the impact on you athletic performance will be?

Thats verryyyy real!!!! I was a rower for some years and even its beeing a more endurance based sport we still lifted weight a lot. And this role thing of body fat is very real even when you got to push your hole weight in a boat, if you have a little more body fat your streght will go up. Just look at a guy named mahe drysdale. He was a top level olympic atlete for more than 10 years, he won two gold medals and one bronze and he was what people call FAT today. I think the dude was something aroung 14 to 16 body fat for olympics . If you really think that you can achive peak performace in streght and power at 5 % body fat you just need to try it once in your life and you will see how its the oposite, you just cant do that
