Thank you for posting these stretches - it's such a relief to know help is only a click away.

I was in a horse riding accident years ago and fractured my neck. I have had nothing but neck, back and shoulder pains since.. I can't believe I'm just now figuring this out.. you may have saved me for years to come! I thought I constantly needed massages to keep my muscles loose and get all the knots out, but I feel so much better doing this already. I've been doing this every morning this week so far. Thank you for your videos! They're so peaceful and calming as well =)

Yes, as long as it goes away and gets less severe as you continue stretching, that's fine. Just don't push yourself too far, the tingling/burning sensations is a good indication of the perfect amount of stretch.

Jen is very very flexible, she has been dancing and doing yoga since childhood. (She talks about it in the video Epic Yoga Poses). So don't feel bad if you aren't as limber, the video Safe Stretches for Beginners offers modifications to help people just starting out, or keep following along with this one and you'll get more flexible. :)

This video is a life saver for me. I have Ehlers-Danlos syndrome hypermobile type. I suffer from awful chronic shoulders and neck pain. I've all the meds available from codeine to morphine and honestly nothing helps like this routine. Sometimes the routine alone relieves the pain. When I have a very bad day with my syndrome and the pain is intolerable, i take the meds and do this routine until the meds kick in. What I really like about this stretch video is that is made for any kind of flexibility. Due to my condition I am extremely flexible, and all this stretches can be adapted to as much as you can push them. It is amazing. I come from a doctors' family and i've been to many doctors, all I was given was pills and pills, some shoulder straps etc, but i've never been taught about this life savior tips ad it's a pity. Meds hide the pain for a while but do not help with the real issue at all, this method does both. Thank you so much!

Your videos are a blessing to me, and already life changing. I have been doing them for about two weeks every day to work on horribly tight neck, upper back, shoulder and lower back/hamstring issues (yes, all over my body!) that I have struggled with for over 20 years. I am finally learning that many of my physical issues can be corrected over time with yoga, and bringing my spine back into alignment! I was shocked last summer to learn at Mayo Clinic that I had lost two full inches in height over the years (I am now almost 44). After two weeks of following along with you, Jen, my posture has dramatically improved and I have gained a full inch of my height back already! Thank you, a million times. You make a real difference in people's lives and I'm thankful I found your videos.

Thanks for the video these stretches are awesome. But I notice then in some of them my arms almost got numb and start tingling. Is this because of tight mucles or am I over stretching them. I can't nearly go as deep into the stretches as you can but I'm just wandering why my arms are going numb. Haha
@psychetruth
9 жыл бұрын
joseph walker It's definitely an indication that your body NEEDS the stretches. Just don't push them so far the tingling becomes painful or lingers after you release the stretch. As you activate and mobilize muscles that have been "sleeping" for a while, the tingling can result. It should diminish as you do the stretches more often.

I have permanent, moderate, nerve damage in my cervical vertebrate (aka neck) from a car accident. Because of this I experience pain in my neck & shoulders, & numbness & tingling that shoots down the entire length of my left arm. Its not all the time, but every time I do stretches that involve raising my left arm above chest level I immediately get the tingling sensation from the left side of my shoulder down the length of my arm & into to my fingertips. Now, I recently expanded my yoga practise & have been doing power yoga on a daily basis. Because of this, I'm experiencing A LOT of pain & tension in my shoulders & neck. I recently came across some of your neck & shoulder stretches & I must say they are a godsend! That last stretch was the kicker! The sensation I got was like pain, but the good kind of pain. That "oh yeah, that's the stuff" kind. I just wanted to lay like that for the next hour! Thank you for making this video! I love Jen Hilman! I have been a yoga follower for many years now...All the stretches and postures are routine yoga postures and exercises..But the beauty with her style is the minor improvisations in each of the postures which frankly I also have been unaware after trawling youtube videos and actual yoga classes...This will really work if practised with patience and slow movements and no immediate expectation of results...From my side there is an additional postures of rotating both the fist clock and anti clockwise with arms stretched forward in front of the chest.

Oh wow Jen, you have helped me more in the past hour than any exercises, instruction, or videos have helped in the past year. My back feels RELIEVED--and with your help, I did it myself! You're beautiful, your instructions are clear, patient, & soothing, the music is therapeutic. Without a direct explanation, but through your gentle instruction, I understand yoga for the first time--the emphasis on breathing, the point of it! You are really a gem. I'm sure you're helping scads of people! Keep up the good work! Heading for your website right now . . . & have just prescribed myself 2 of your videos/day 2-3 times/day! Again, THANK YOU : )

Thank you so much. My left shoulder blade area has been sooo tight for years now I can barely turn my head to the right fully. After doing these, especially the arms crossed over in front one and the lying on the floor with wide arms, I can tell I'm going to finally get some relief.
