I'm kisii...most basic vocabularies between the Maragoli and Ekegusii are similar. But as you rightly said, if a maragoli speaks very fast, I will definitely not understand. The vice versa is true. I love your videos already. 👏👏👏👏👏

I am so happy to finally hear this from a Kisii’s point of view. Because I also think the two are kind of similar in terms of a few vocabulary. Of course speaking fast, can be a bit difficult to get the words. Personally I can understand a Kisii slightly. But only when they speak slowly. Thank you so much for stopping by. I am happy. And thanks for appreciating my videos.

Even when someone speaks Ekegusii quite fast, I won't really understand them unless I can hear some shared vocabulary

I knew Kisii and Maragoli must be related. Someone told me they're not. Yet I see so many similarities

The short answer is no. Contrary to popular belief of non Maragoli dialect speaking Luyhas, Kisii and Maragoli can’t understand each other. I can pick up a few Bantu words (omwana), but as a Maragolian, I might as well be listening to a Kikuyu or a Kamba talking.
