Thank you for all the help Very well done So many of these things are done by men that they think they are talking to men that are semi pros and know the basics. I am an older Lady that her husband did all the repairs. He passed at 68 two years ago and now I am having to fix them myself. I just replace spindles on my JD mower had to buy impact things to get the size I needed. But I did. So please keep the info like you are talking to a beginner show even the small things. You are GREAT

I have a stihl fs76 weed eater from 1994 and when stihl really built their equipment to last. I bought mine in March of 1994. It still works perfect today (7/2019) and hasn't lost any power in over 25 years.

Great video, measured and clear. It saved me. I was stuck: couldn't afford to take the strimmer to a repair shop, but didn't have the know-how to take the carb off. Your video gave me the confidence to do it myself. In the end my carb was a different one (my Stihl is a European one) but the principles were the same. Many thanks.

That's really nice of you to dedicate your time to put a video up like this. While I didn't fix my trimmer like I wanted, I was able to successfully take of the carb. and clean it. I have spent many days dealing with it and now its time to take it to the shop :(

And for those who do and have no better memory than mine, With smart phone photo ability it would be a good idea to take shot of your dismantling - Thanks again I'm thinking of having a go at my black and decker trimmer.

Hi Guys, Here is what I did for my fussy Stihl FS 250r trimmer....this after sitting all winter. Try this before you rebuild. 1) Removed the idle mix screw and sprayed Seafoam in the screw hole 2) Removed the high mix screw and sprayed in Seafoam in the screw hole 3) Replaced the screws at their factory(owners manual) setting 3) She started right up with one pull 4) I added some Seafoam fuel additive for the first tank only 5) Next season I will be more careful and drain the tank and fully run the trimmer out of fuel.....like it says in the manual ;-) If your trimmer has a lot of hours I would also replace the spark plug, fuel filter, and air filter. The plug is gapped at 20 grand.

I own that same string trimmer. After I use it for the first time and turn it off. It will be very hard to start when I try to re-start it when I'm at my next lawn to edge. Sometimes the primer will not draw in any fuel. What should I do about this? I did a compression test last night and the gauge goes up to 100psi.

nice video quality and presentation. good slow pace and detail. Only thing I wanted to see what how to tune the high speed adjustment which you didn't show. I have a CA model trimmer but bought a 49 state factory Stihl carb to replace my bad one. I removed the limit caps. Not sure how to set up high speed mixture since I dont't have a tach...

I have a similar machine and rebuilt the carb and changed the fuel lines/filter recently. Could you elaborate which one of the lines (upper or lower) is the vent line and which one is the fuel pick up line with the filter at the other end, TIA.
@Iscaper

JnC445 If I remember right the vent line would be the shorter upper line, and the fuel the longer line in the bottom of the tank.

Great video, i just did the same thing today for the FS 106, new carb kit, new line, fuel filter and plug. I am having a hard time setting the high and low jets and idle. Manual says one turn out for each from seated position and go from there. However the idle is really fast that the head is turning at start up. Is it best to leave the high at one turn out and play with the low? Right now i don't have a bog but i think the motor is going to high of a rpm. What is the best way to make the correct adjustments?
@Iscaper
9 жыл бұрын
fasstang87 You have 3 adjustment screws on the carburetor. If the trimmer is running smoothly don't mess with the low speed screw, adjust the idle screw down to where the trimmer head doesn't turn.

Very well done video, but I have to admit I got a bit queasy when I saw you spraying the cleaning solvent on your hands. No preaching from me, but you've gotta know that stuff is bad news for long term health. Here's what one health site had to say, "Quote: Reports have associated repeated and prolonged over exposure to petroleum distillates with adverse liver, kidney and bone marrow effects and with permanent brain and nervous system damage. Intentional misuse by deliberately concentrating and inhaling the product may be harmful or fatal. Xylene and light aromatic solvent naphtha have been found to cause adverse reproductive effects in laboratory animals. Excellent "how to video" though.
