I learned how to fix damaged threads on my 350 small block exhaust manifold by watching this video. Many thanks! 🔧

Do the keyserts need to be as long as the threads on the bolt?
@240Tony

I believe the key sert is made to have enough treads to hold the studs properly.

You have to take the engine off the bay?
@240Tony

You can do it without removing the engine. My engine just happened to be out.

Can you use any Tap thread with Sert?

Tap thread must match the key serts

@@240TonyI understand but can I use any brand tap thread?
@240Tony
8 ай бұрын
@@JohnnieIsBored Yes of course! As long as the tap doesnt break inside! Theres taps for starting, bottom out or in between. It all depends how deep you have to tap @JohnnieIsBored

@@240Tony what made you go with this specific version compared to the time sert?
@240Tony

@JohnnieIsBored I never use time sert. But key sert has 4 prongs you punch in so it can never turn out. Better than heli coil

Those studs were way too shallow for aluminum! I'm tempted to believe they were backwards. Otherwise, excellent demonstration!

Almost looks like the guy used Teflon tape to really get it to stay.
