Cliff, Something I have been doing for the last year or so is using graphite as a lubricant and not packing with grease. I my experience grease tends to attract chips and certainly keeps them once inside. Before I was cleaning every couple of months when it got sticky but with the graphite I will be inspecting the 3 jaw this week for the first time in 6 months but it is still silky smooth so may just be adding a few more puffs of the stuff and closing back up. Regards Mike

Cheers Michael, just found some on Amazon! Do you just put a bit in instead off or as well as grease? Cliff

Cliff, A very thin film of grease and then a good puff of the graphite. My logic is that it sticks to the grease and combines giving lubrication and drying it up so that Mr Chips is not a welcome caller. Sorry one too many coffees today!. Mike

Thanks Cliff. I think using compressed air for cleanup on my lathe may be forcing chips and dwarf into odd places like that Frank

Yes, I think that is it, Richard commented similar, Just realised I have been using my "new" chuck for eight months, so it was a bit overdue for some tic, it works hard! Thanks for watching, ATB, Cliff

Kin'ell Cliff, I was expecting to see a tiny bit of bum-fluff in the chuck !!! I s'pose you could've swished it out with a drop of white spirit and an old paint brush, and maybe saved all that expensive brake cleaner? Dunno really. Good, informative video though. Atb 👍🏻

Hello Richard, Almost certainly! But I think I would rather clean the chuck a bit more regularly than not blast the crap away when I'm at it! :-), Thanks for watching, ATB, Cliff
