I can't believe it was that easy!!! My husband had a Mossy Oak Tumbler with chipping paint which isn't ideal when it's something you drink from! HOW EASY was this to just wrap in acetone and wait for it to melt away! THANK YOU!!! You saved me $40!! HA!

Thanks for these tips, I'll use 'em on my project! I'd like to add a tip of my own: avoid using anything made of carbon steel on a stainless steel surface. The carbon steel can leave tiny deposits in the stainless which can lead to ugly rust spotting! Quite by accident I learned this, by using a carbon steel wire brush to clean a large stainless steel valve! Within weeks it was covered in rust spots, like a bad case of acne…oh, was the boss angry about that.

Different coatings need different solvents... If it is powdercoated, it's possible that none of the solvents are going to work... If it is painted, acetone will not work on everything... I was refinishing an old table a few years back and mineral spirits, acetone, MEK, and xylene didn't really take the finish / crud off of it, but alcohol worked quite well... Which probably meant it was some sort of shellac finish... If I was wanting to strip the coating off of a stainless steel vacuum insulated tumbler though, I would probably just sandblast it...

How do u take part out of cup
@KimagineDIY
Ай бұрын
Thank you so much for watching and for your question! 😊 I appreciate you taking the time to ask. Just to clarify, are you asking about how to remove paint from the stainless steel cup or how to take a specific part out of the cup? If it's about removing paint, as shown in the video, the effectiveness of the remover can depend on the type of paint used. You might also find some great suggestions in the comments section from other viewers who have tried different methods. If you're asking about removing a part, could you please specify which part you're referring to? I'd be happy to help further! 🎨🛠️

Hey there! Thanks for watching and sharing your suggestion! A heat gun or paint stripper could indeed be effective alternatives for removing paint from a stainless steel tumbler. I haven't tried these methods yet, but if you do, let me know how it works out for you! It's great to have different options depending on what tools you have available. I appreciate your input!

Thank you for reaching out and considering safety! 😊 Always check the labels on the products you're using; they typically contain safety information. For any uncertainty, wearing personal protective equipment is a great idea. Stay safe and have fun! If you're unsure, a quick look at the company's labels should have all the safety information you need. Happy DIYing! 🎨🛠️

What about removing lacquer from a bottle? I have a stainless steel bottle but want to strip it so I can powder coat it
@KimagineDIY
3 жыл бұрын
😀 Hello! I have not removed lacquer from a tumbler before but I do know they make a lacquer thinner to remove it from bathroom hardware. That would be my suggestion. With any type of "Stripper" Chemical make sure to be in a well-ventilated area. Let me know how it goes or if you find something else that works. 😁

LMAO... Have you EVER seen a woman use PPE when doing their nails? Nail polish remover is just acetone and some fragrances that the think women would prefer over the more neutral chemical smell of acetone... Well, that's what *real* nail polish remover is made from... The stuff that actually WORKS... Not the idiotic "green" crap that they are trying to con women into buying these days...

@@maedee1769 Yes it can strip the paint off. You'll have to leave it in a container full of apple cider vinegar for a couple of days. Note: the longer it stays in the cider the easier the paint will come off
