Nurse here... If you're suspecting something like this, but it's so faint you can barely tell, have them stick their tongue out of their mouth. Most won't be able to. You can also try to get them to move their tongue side to side, up & down etc. Pay attention to those early warning signs & dont delay. ❤

@@IAmJeka Unfortunately I can't give medical advice, but I will say, although common, not all strokes are "Ischemic strokes." That is the type you're referring to as a "clot." This type of stroke is caused by a full or even partial blockage of blood supply to the brain & can have many causes other than just a blood clot. For example, one reason could be due to sticky plaque that ages "can become," crumbly like an aging stone building. A piece "could," flake or break off & travel to your brain causing a blockage. The other type of stroke is what's known as a "Hemorrhagic stroke," & this occurs when an artery in your brain ruptures. Just two examples that could cause this type could be from an aneurysm (thinning area in an artery wall,) chronic or untreated high blood pressure causes high pressures in our arteries resulting in a weak spot blow out. Another cause could simply be congenital or birth defect/s. Like I said, there's so many more causes than I mentioned. "Transient Ischemic Attack," also known as (TIA) is not an actual stroke, but rather a blockage or interruption that occurs for a short amount of time & is considered a very important, but early "warning sign," that a stroke is imminent in the very near future. If it were me, & I experienced a TIA, I would not delay in seeking medical attention immediately. I would do anything to decrease my risk/s of a stroke. Some of the more obvious, major risk factors can be revealed during a yearly physical exam & then treated to help lower those risks. Some of the major risks can include, but isn't limited to smoking, heart disease, diabetes, chronic or untreated high blood pressure, high cholesterol/triglycerides, etc. Prevention is key to longevity. Other factors than "might," play a role is having a family history of strokes or heart attacks. They typically want to know if it's your parent who had an event which can potentially increase their offspring's risks, but having a sibling that has had one can actually double that risk (more so than a parent.) Same for a heart attack. Instead of me offering medical advice (since I'm not a medical dr,) a helpful suggestion for anyone wanting to know more could visit a reputable website in your country. In the U.S. we would visit the "American Heart Association, CDC .gov, American Stroke Association," or similar, reputable websites to learn more about strokes & cardiac events & ways you can decrease risks or even learn what to do if you suspect someone of having one. Calling emergency services is always going to be at the top of the list. Lastly, taking a CPR class is another extremely useful tool in your toolbox. I see free video's by top agencies online frequently sharing helpful info. Those will never replace becoming certified, but are educational nonetheless. Check with your local municipality, sometimes they offer classes locally & for free by certified instructors! I hope this helps. ❤️

I had been having TIA's and no doctor would listen to me. I ended up in ICU for 5 days. Then I lost the use of my left arm and leg for 3 days. The left side of my mouth was paralyzed for a full month. I have regained most of the use of my left side except for the fine motor function. I am crediting the love and concern of neighbors who gave me a sweet card and my neverending love of singing of getting full function of my smile and mouth back. I kept that card sitting in front of me the entire year. We all went our separate ways after that month but that love has stayed with me. I have a genetic disorder that causes high triglycerides and cholesterol levels. Now I am facing the possibility of having Cervical Cancer. In Canada we use the acronym FAST for stroke detection. F = Face… Is it symmetrical, get them to smile/stick their tongue out. A = Arms… Get them to hold both out/up. If a stroke, one will be obviously diminished. S = Speech… Ask them a question. If slurred, incoherent or jumbled, you’d better get to your next step T = Time, call 911, they will prompt you on what to do until help arrives, get your loved one in a comfortable position and watch the airway. Stroke victims may only show one sign or all 3 major ones. And time is so crucial at this stage because they need to be in a hospital immediately consulting with a neurologist because they only have a window of about 3hrs to be able to administer clot busters once they know it isn’t a hemorrhagic bleed. Glad you saw the warning signs in your husband and he got the immediate help he needed. My mother wasn’t so fortunate as we didn’t have a Neurologist available in my small community and missed the 3hr window. Doctors have banded together here to make sure this doesn’t happen again and now we have the option of a telephony conference with a neurologist to check the CT Scan for bleeds. Out attending Doctor that ill fated night could read the CT Scan, could tell it wasn’t a bleed, but thanks to political BS, was unable to administer the clot busters in time and my mother still suffers from the effects of her huge stroke to this day, which could have been completely reversed. F.A.S.T. Always remember that, cheers from Canadian Healthcare.

Second time I had total paralysis on my left side. Id just left my abusive husband and I had 4 babies in nappies. I learnt how to sit on the floor and use my foot to keep wriggling toddlers still to change them. I had 5 older children, 14 and down that were my godsend. He's doing great right now, working with The Mayo Clinic Cardiology and Neurology. He did not have the Covid vaccine prior to this video. He has familial hypercholesterolemia and elevated LP(a) causing early strokes and heart attacks. LP(a) is very common effecting 1 in 5 people! My twin sister had numerous strokes when we were 17. She was hospitalized for a few weeks, put in the ICU and was their number one priority in there. I soon learned she was also suffering from a brain aneurysm and seizures. After a week, we had to do her last rites. They gave her less than 1% chance of surviving the night. I was losing her. I was scared. We didn’t graduate, have kids, or even have our first job or license yet. I was gonna be in a world without her. 😢 what was I gonna do without her?? Fast foward to today. She made a full recovery!! Took her only a week to learn to walk again. She now lives in her own apt, and has kids of her own. ☺️🥰 Thank the Lord! 😊

My hubby stayed home one day from work. I got a call on my cell and could hear it in his voice. As calmly as I could I got my stuff told my supervisor that my hubby is having a stroke without hubby hearing me. I told hubby to keep talking to me. I live 30 minutes from my job via the highway. I made it home in 5 minutes and rushed him to the er where they told us that he had had an ischemic stroke. He woke up in the middle of having it. If we had waited for an ambulance or I had hit traffic he might not have made it. I lost my sister the next day due to a stress induced heart attack. I went into the hospital with two and walked out with one.

My hubsters was 42 when he had his stroke. I remember taking him lunch to his job and he didn't want it due to headache. I went on to work myself. 15 minutes into my job, I got a call from his boss saying EMS Was there working on my husband. Luckily I worked at the hospital at the time and all I had to do was wait for his arrival. Found out he had a mild stroke. I got to watch the video footage from his job. He was seen walking out the door and looked like a robot short circuiting then head fell forward while standing frozen. Then dropped back on his head. So many horror stories about nursing homes and rehabs. Too bad the gov or states dont audit them more. Mom caught pneumonia in one and passed a month later. But the really scary part was the poor younger lady that was in the bed next to her, always screaming for the nurse. When i visited mom, she got attention from me, and id go out to get help. Her story was the nurses dropped her while bathing her and she got paralyzed from the neck down from it. So horrible to be in that condition and have the nurses ignore your yells for help, in the future.

My dad is diabetic. He took some short-term insulin once he got home from work, and is you don't know, short-term brings your blood sugar down really fast. My dad meant to take long-term (if you don't know what I'm talking about look it up.) When my dad went to go take a bath, he does that every once-and-a-while. He got in the tub and about 30 minutes later we hear banging. We thought it was the neighbors. More banging. My mom goes and checks on my dad. My dad was having a seizure. "CALL 9-1-1!" my mom yelled. I grabbed her phone. My hands were shaking so bad I could hardly type the numbers. I ran outside after my mom took the phone. I sat outside rolling in the grass whhile having a panic attack.Five minutes pass and i tseemed to have taken forever for the paraamedics to arrive. My dad was taken to the hospital. He turned out fine, although he was out of it for a bit. He bit down really hard on his tongue during his seizure causing immense pain and a deep cut. I love my dad to death and that scared the crap out of me.❤

Yes, it happens that fast. I looked out the kitchen window, and my husband was laughing with my neighbour about something and I felt an overwhelming love for him. I was so happy to be his wife. It was 7 minutes later my son came running up the stairs, yelling that I should prepare myself. I couldn’t figure out what for. But I knew my husband was outside, working with the lawnmower, and I jumped up because I thought he had cut himself on the blades, so I grabbed a bunch of towels and I ran downstairs, but what I saw was a man doing CPR on my husband. My son and I took over CPR until the paramedics came and a half hour later, they pronounced them dead. We found out he had actually died before hitting the ground. The coroner said that it was like somebody walked up and turned off his life switch. The one thing that I’m thankful for is that it was quick, painless, and he had the most peaceful look on his face when he passed away. You just never know when your life is going to turn upside down. I hope your husband is doing better now.

I had a stroke in January 2021 at 33 years old. I just thought I had a terrible migraine so I forced myself to sleep taking benadryl. I remember waking up trying to carry my water bottle to the couch and I kept dropping it. I was trying to talk to my husband and it made sense in my head what I was saying but he couldn’t understand me. He calmly said “we need to go to the hospital”. He got the kids in the car and drove me to the ER where they confirmed I had a clot blocking “a main highway” (as the Dr. put it) on the left side of my brain. Enough oxygen was being carried through “backroads” which if it had not been it would’ve been catastrophic. I was admitted with blood thinners for 5 days until the clot finally dissipated. I had a hole in my heart that had allowed the clot to pass through and ended up having surgery to have the hole closed (with mesh implant). So thankful to God for working it all out the way it did.

Back in Nov. of 2019 my Dad had a Hemorrhagic stroke. The Drs at the hospital kept insisting my Mom sign a DNR but she kept refusing. Later that night while I was sitting with my head in my Mom’s lap praying that he would just give us some sign that he was still with us. I got an all over warm feeling while I was praying and an urgency to turn and my Dad reached out his hand to us (his eyes still closed). I took my Mom’s face into my hands and said (with tears rolling down my face) and said “Mom look, he reaching for you.” I ran to get the Dr and the rest of the family crying and telling them he reached for Mom. Even though he was sort of communicating they (Drs) kept insisting on the DNR, UNTIL I told them to stop or I was calling our Attorney. With him being Deaf and with a Cochlear Implant they were insisting that he wasn’t responding to them when spoken to (they had masks on of course). One of the Drs had turned his Cochlear OFF, she said she did this to prove a point of his non reactive state. We noticed this and informed them “that he cannot hear you without it being on.” How can expect him to respond if it’s off?” My Mom stayed with him the entire time he was in that hospital not leaving him at all. Well, when he was better enough to go to a Specialized Hospital he started to be able to hold a magazine and read, he communicated on the phone and would laugh and smile. When we thought he was regressing I had brought my Granddaughter in and she sang to him his favorite hymn, he reached out his hand (his eyes were still closed) and whispered to her “I love you Kaley”. He came back! That Specialized Hospital had a female person who was in charge of who stays and who goes (sorry, I can’t remember what that’s called) would constantly have excuses for the nurses and CNA’s to try to find stuff to say he was deteriorating. Luckily we had pictures and videos. He stayed there until there was an opening in an excellent (or so we thought) facility. He was moved there and was supposed to be getting therapy. Then Covid hit. We weren’t allowed to see him except through a window. We were heartbroken. Finally after our shots, we were able to finally go in his room and visit. He was a mess. We cleaned him up combed his hair and brushed his teeth. They kept losing his Cochlear, never put new batteries in until we got there. His floor had gotten closed again due to someone bringing in covid so again we weren’t able to visit. I did end up telling him that the whole world had gotten the flu, he hadn’t heard of Covid so that’s how I told him. He just gave me a look-like are you crazy 😆. We had gotten sick so we couldn’t see him for like a week. THEN we got the call. He was being rushed to the ER. He didn’t make it. The day was March 2, 2022. He was 87 yrs young. We rushed to the hospital which was 2 hrs away. We had known that his nurse had been saying how sick and tired she was of taking care of him. So something fishy had to have happened (our opinion). The reason we couldn’t have him home was we live to far from any hospital. We love and miss you so much Dad 💔. DO NOT TRUST NURSING HOMES!!!

Im so sorry this happened to you. I lost my father last month. He had a stroke back in june and never recovered. If I could do it all over again I wouldve forced him to go to the hospital when I saw something wrong. But he refused. Nursing homes are not what they are cracked up to be, its all a money grab. So sorry for your loss.

I also lost my father which I suspect could be due to medical malpractice. 💔 If indeed, they were to blame, God knows and He will give justice as fit.

I am so sorry your family endured this I am sending you love I really hope you can feel it. My mom is currently hospitalized she was intubated and the dr. Told me she would not be extubated until lung transplant so I would not be able to speak to her. She was transferred and is breathing on her own. She is doing better but still has end stage lung disease. All of these comments are making me cry.

It's easier to see when you realize that they are more subtle signs. My ex fiance had a hemorrhagic stroke and long story short, he survived and made basically a complete recovery considering he refused to go to the hospital for about 5 hours. Doctors were amazed.

My stepdad, in his 70s, has been having many small strokes & they say the big one is coming for him & there’s nothing they can do to stop it. Knowing the warning signs is HUGE. The first one me & Mom we on an outing & my stepsister had called from California. She could tell over the phone & called 911 from California & got an ambulance to him in Oklahoma. We went straight to the hospital & now Mom is scared to leave him alone.

I am so sorry for what you all have been through! Look into nattokinase(natto) it helps dissolve blood clots in your blood. Look up clinical trials and medical studies results. May help prevent a stroke.

I can kind of see the symptoms, but with not knowing him very closely it looks like it could be anything. Early symptoms of a stroke are almost always picked out by people that see the person all the time, strangers generally unable to tell until the stroke progresses. Glad you were able to notice and catch it.

So good that you got help in time. I wish you would've shown more because I couldn't see how he looked before or any signs. My beautiful and young 53 year old mother succumbed to complications of a TIA stroke. Her death was deamed Sepsis and Pneumonia. She had been experiencing losing her balance, headache, tingling in chin and vomiting. When she went to see the doctore they saud her equilibrium was off due to an inner ear infection. They gave her Meclizine for antivert. She was diabetic and had hypertension. After arriving to the hospital, it is super important to know what meds a patient is on. Otherwise, they won't administer the blood thinner to prevent an aneurysm. In her case, it was called the "golden hour" they failed her. As time passed she had no twisted face, no brain bleeding, and not paralyzed. But where she had her stroke damaged a part of her brain that dealt with vision. So many things can happen during a stroke and we all need to be educated. RIP Mom 💐.

Mine is 47 and had his second one last year. The first one happened with a seizure while in the hospital. I didn’t see that in play. However, this last one he had right in front of me. He was talking to me and then it went into baby talk and then he couldn’t talk. He fell into my arms. This happened after working shift work and coming off nights. Weird sleep patterns is what caused the onset of this one. He’s fine and was lucky no damage. Can happen anytime after the initial one. Scary! Glad your husband was okay!!! Always on alert now, huh?

I have adult onset MoyaMoya Syndrome - I’ve had 18 strokes and 8 TIAs, 8 seizures and dozens of tremor sessions (the longest tremor session lasted 5 days). I’ve had bilateral brain surgery on the right side and am doing well. It rough they tell you to look for FASTER - -FACE, facial drooping, uneven smile, facial tingling or numbness on one or both sides -ARMS, one arm drifts down when they try to hold them both up or is weaker when pressed downward, sometimes the arm tingles or goes numb, causing the person to unexpectedly drop whatever they’re holding -STABILITY, dizziness and hard time keeping balance or weakness in the legs the causes loss of balance, trouble walking and lack of coordination -TALKING, slurred words, unable to understand or be understood when speaking, often unable to repeat a simple phrase back to you -EYES, difficulty seeing out of one eye or double vision -REACT… call 911 immediately, even if symptoms fade quickly, and remember when the symptoms first started (a mini stroke may precede a major stroke)
