People have to take into account the "supplements" and training equipment back then compared to now. Also a person's weight comes into play. I think we can all agree he was one of the strongest men ever to walk. His accomplishments in strongest man and powerlifting were quite substantial. A true pioneer in strength sports

Lol you'd have to be an idiot not to think that. So in the past 30 years the exact same supplement pool is being used? Why are bodybuilders bigger and have a more freakish look to them? Why are strongmen bigger and stronger overall than in the past? How are powerlifting totals being pushed to greater and greater limits? You sir are blind
@mkrulic517439
9 жыл бұрын
Ryan Turner ok, gotta confess, by supplements I thought you were talking about aas. supplements do not make the difference. bb'ers are larger due to synthol. I think the difference in strenght is due to the fact that the fringe becomes bigger and more fringeir due to a larger population.
@ryanturner8577
9 жыл бұрын
mkrulic517439 synthol is not the only reason lol. Don't forgot GH, insulin, and igf-1 are all prevalent now which weren't back then. Plus more nutritional information and training information. A higher powerlifting population is not the only cause.

Their have been many strong men, throughout our time and i have read about all of them. In my honest opinion, taking into account things like steroids, HGR hormone plus all of the protein drinks and additives available today, one man stands out above all and that is Paul Anderson. Those things were not available to him as well as weight belts, wrist straps and traing shoes, he was completly natural. Many records that stand today do not include alot of his lifts, which broke all records. His back lift alone, at 6,270 jbs alone makes him the strongest man that ever lived. If you haven't read about him or never saw him lift, your missing something!

The biggest strongest crane today can't come close to lifting such massive weights. Not only that, but the precision they used then was better than today. Mathematical genius'. If their minds were that strong, surely they knew plenty about human body health and strength, not to mention the fact that giant humans bigger than today existed in the past. Strongest Man Who Ever Lived is Sterke-Nils from Telemark Norway. Nils Olavsson Langedal, called Sterke-Nils (born around 1720 on Rulleteig in Brunkeberg in Kviteseid in Telemark, died around the year 1800) was a strong man there are several legends about. He lived parts of his life in Seljord (Seljordshei) and in Kviteseid. Sterke-Nils was known as the giant from Seljord who was bottled up on horse milk and was "horribly strong". And Sterke Nils did not know what anabolic steroids was. Sterke-Nils is said to have lifted the 570 kilo stone lying by Seljord church. Which he lifted in his fist.

Yes there are and many of those naturally strong guys will go to the gym and get even stronger. So being naturally extremely strong and then devoting your life to training, I doubt there is no-one simply naturally stronger. And people may have been stronger before because they had to do physical work, but we are talking about bodybuilders here whose work is to train their body. It's basically a science to achieve maximum strength.

Marius was not the greatest strongman of the era…. He had notable wins against Phil Pfister and Derrek Poundstone and Phil even beat him during his prime… Samuelson was 90 when Marius beat him… Brian Shaw was too green…. He beat Savickas once or twice but only because Marius had better cardio because Zadrunus is like 400 lbs…. Zadrunus would be winning up until a heat like axis stones or something where Marius had a distinct advantage…. In terms of strength, Zadrunus beat Marius in most of the heats they were heads up in…. Kazmaier, Capes, Anderson, Samuelson… That was a monster competition of all stars….. with half the quality steroids. Stick Marius in that mix and see if he wins 5 times.
