Thanks for the guide. I'm having a lot of difficulty understanding how the stabiliy is working, at least in my save. I understand the theory but I have places in my buildings where it says I have no stability when it really should because it's next to a stability 4 tile or something, but then in other places where it should be a 3 or a 2 it's a 4. Has me perplexed.
@perafilozof
2 жыл бұрын
Hello Joutja and welcome to my channel. Indeed it can be waxing, especially because stability can be bugged and it doesn't update sometimes until you rebuild sections which are not registering propery. What it boils down to is that you have to be aware of the stability of the tile under the tile you are originally looking at. Since stability is transferred up from down the problem is usually found at the bottom level of the tiles which are giving you issues. One of the most often issues is when you dig under something that has been built or dug. It's best to build and dig above something after you have dug all you wanted under it. Doing it the other way around always creates problems even when you think everything is properly covered by stability from pillars or beams.

I've made a cellar but rather than 6x10 I used 5x9 cuz I want to have the middle ones as a path for my people, a few days later a 3 tile cave in right in the middle. I dug the sides first then added a support beam then mined the middle. How do i cover a 4 level deep hole in my great hall?
@perafilozof

You have to set up pillars from the bottom going up on each level right on top of each other. This happens when you dig under a room you already dug or change the stability of some tile that was holding up or transferring stability to others. It can be q mistake by the game calculating stability but the damage is done.

Thank you for those links, and I have monetized my channel 2 years ago. You can dig under any structure long as you have enough support structure beneath. Weight is not taked into considerstion, just how spaced out your support pillars are. But! There are some issues with this when diggign. I am not sure why but it had been known to happen to lose stability when diggign under an already dug out room. Save often.

Hi there, i had some ideas on how you could break up your videos about village building - General defense. This will work for all styles of play (except peaceful which wont need it i guess) - What is available - How long does it take a bandit to take it down - Spawning locations - Bandit types and any specific behaviour (Where do bandits go for (workstations, settlers, etc)) - General defense guidelines (moat, walls, merlons / windows) - Efficiency. This will also work for all styles of play - Workstation relations - Stockpile layout - Walking speed - Rooms - Layout. Since you cover the basics in the other videos this one can be more about the actual layout instead of the mechanics - Priorities. What to build first - House vs cave (digging speed?) - Multiple floors vs multiple houses - Aesthetics

@noanils123 on the research tab, unlock the decoration (wall decorations) which will be necessary for acquring room types. Next, click the room type button (just below the schedule tab and 3rd to the left from the lower icons). Each room is color coded and simply follow what is required for a room to be considered what. Bedroom and shared bedroom is the easiest as you only need a bed for it. For everything else, you need a specified wall decoration with the right workshops/furniture. E.g. kitchen: at least (1)butcher table, at least (1) hearth (can be acquired through research), and (2) wall pottery shelf (under wall decorations if unlocked). NOTE: ONLY put the one's required for a room type. Adding anything else will make it as a spare room. Also, both shrines are different. Don't put it with the same room with the other.

A tile above one of the 10x6 rooms broke down for no apparent reason. I reloaded the save 5 times before I figured it out. I had accidentally given a mine job on several tiles which were the floor of that room. As soon as they were dug the tile above broke. Check to see if anything like that happened to you.
