You don't need to wait for RFPs, you should reach out periodically to keep that line of communication open. Now this doesn't apply to all customers as they're all different and we understand how they react to certain things but there are definitely ones you should be constantly in communication with. Build that connection so you slowly sell your way in and move someone else out but that only happens if you can talk a good game and give them a reason to take something away from someone else and give it to you. If you're just waiting on RFPs and sending them back then the only thing that matters is who has the lowest rate. Not the type of freight I want

for us most of our clients of new carriers we get them the lowest possible insurance to keep the MC up, and work them as owner operator under our big carriers dedicated lanes for 3 months cause as you said its crazy and too much hustle for a new carrier to get loads unless they will stick with mostly C.H Robinson and TQL loads as these are mainly the brokers that accept new carriers, Coyote will accept carriers with 30 days old MC and most of the rest like JBHunt Convoy Molo etc will require at least 90 days old MC, but as I said its too much hustle so best option is to start up the MC pay minimum insurance required and work as owner operator.

In my opinion, the DOT regulates truck drivers a lot, but they do nothing against brokers who keep up to 60% of the value of loads and many of these brokers do not physically live in the USA. Truck drivers have to pay for everything, often risking their lives driving in unfavorable conditions ( snow time ), and brokers, who are sitting on their asses in a chair, at home keep up to 60 percent of the value of the loads. The government or the federal senate should change the law and prohibit brokers who don't live in the US from working in other countries because they only think about money and not that it's good for everyone.

for factoring companies and 3rd party providers they get the new carriers contact info from FMCSA Safer Filing, as FMCSA announce on daily bases in FMCSA Register Selection the FMCSA Licensing and Insurance Register carrier lists which is the new carriers granted their DOT number, lol so its all because the FMCSA but tbf once you finish requesting your new DOT & MC, FMCSA do warn you with a big letters and a full page about the sales calls that you will start receiving from privet companies forcing the services under the claim you must comply to FMCSR and that you actually dont need to register with any of these services.

America profits far more then Canada does with this. I've met a few drivers that were American but had duel citizenship and ran freight within Canada for an American company. Also, CFI is a huge company and guess what, their owned by TFI (Trans Force International) with is based out of Montreal, Quebec. FedEx, UPS and Amazon are all American companies that operate in Canada, as well as Wal-Mart. It works both ways.
