I’m a gymnast, you have to start slowly and work your way up. 15 seconds as far as you can down. Then 30. Then a minute. You will get injured if you push too much, but you must push yourself.

Also for kick-boxers do butterfly stretches regularly in morning, it will help your legs after a hard kicking session, and it can help kick higher.

For splits you should start with doing right facing splits then left facing which will lead into a easier middle split

Yes to butterflies no to the bouncing it's not particularly damaging but it certainly does you no favors. Slow consistency long holds 30 seconds plus . The key is holding the position.

Also at a certain point your pelvis won’t let your leg joints go further, I think you can tilt your hips forward to fix that, but I would look that up first

The butterfly position reminds me of my newbie training days, it was hellish especially when I had to sit in a butterfly position and my instructor steps both on my thighs for my knees to reach the floor.

Guys , I've done ballet for over 12 years, and let me tell you I was STIFF, you have to stretch yourself daily atleast 25mins 2x a day if you where like me. I started stretching when I was 2, at 3 I was perfect at splits, practise makes perfect. You can use these to HELP you stretch but not to make you do the splits, don't get too speedy as different bodies work different some people just have it built in some don't! Please be careful to not pop and or over stretch / pull muscles

Another tip (very hard): Start training splits with one leg on the floor and, and putting the ankle of the other leg on a platform a few centimetres above the floor. Hold it for at least a minute on both sides, two times a day. Always hold where it hurts, splits quite literally take no pain no gain to the next level...

Tbh, with constant training you can get it. My split was only few degrees above 90° but with some similar 10min stretching (warm up before) in 2, 3 weeks I almost got the full split lol

hehe, professional yosakoi and soran bushi dancer here and the last one is our favourites. commonly appears in beginners dance, and still comes out for muscle memory even if you're pro. really recommend the last one as the stars do too, when i first joined i was far from flexible and was always the slowest to switch sides. now i find myself staying in this position for no honest reason HAHAHA much love 💗

splits is a struggle cause the muscles aren't stretched to do a full middle split by default. you can't magically spread your legs and get full split. the muscles have to be stretched first, and this is a struggle.
