Can that really be called controlled movement? The wedge on the other bot held up super well.

The other bot is a kit, they're known for being incredibly durable. The guy who makes them was the captain of the War Hawk team on Battlebots and he lets his daughters drive them in competitions, so they take a beating and he can keep making improvements. I managed to KO one of the ones driven by his daughters once, but not because of anything I did, the radio just stopped working for some reason.

It's basically a Droopy clone. Uses controlled gyro from its two spinners to "walk" across the ring. Droopy does translate a lot better than this one does though.

Great fight, I love the sound of the hits reverberating through the room. It's quite interesting that they used a soft metal for the arena, the bumpers/wall looks like aluminium (or at least the outer layer of it is) and I saw a couple of vertical spinners having trouble self righting since they had bite on the floor instead of bouncing off it.

I hope someone really do take this design idea to Battlebots. It's been a while since we had a dual horizontal spinner in Battlebots.
@TitoRigatoni
Жыл бұрын
In Battlebots you can't have a bot with no mobility. But this year there is Horizon which has dual horizontal spinners very similar to this. Also SMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE is technically dual horizontal spinners, although they weren't very effective.

@@TitoRigatoni Maybe Chromefly and Rotator is the closest to this design, but I mean just add some sort of wheel, thread or leg to meet the criteria.

The creator of Slammo tried to get a bot called Zap! To the competition which it's a dual blade design. But the selection community rejected it.

Lol, it doesn't need to if your opponent wants to win and has to drive into you, my antweight Oswald just has a heavy horizontal and 1 wheel and that's exactly my strategy.
@BigFatWedge
Жыл бұрын
The trouble with that is that your opponent has almost all the control over how exchanges go. With just one wheel(or no wheels in this case), your bot is a lot less maneuverable, and there's more opportunity to get to sides and things.

@@teamsmokeyrobotics I actually used to run an undercutter with one offset wheel. The wheel steered the thing and the weapon dragging on the floor actually moved it around pretty quick. Absolutely terrifying 1lb death machine. I run the weapons on my beetle now and they're still maybe oversized lol. Heaviest one was 9.2oz of AR400. It's been retired due to me being a little too scared to spin it up in my garage, since it wanders around the floor whenever I do.
