Can you do a how to be advanced for the Volante? I know it’s been out for a few years, but I’d love to see what you’d do with it
@CyberattackWorld
Жыл бұрын
Thanks man. I do have a Volante, but most of the "advanced" stuff I do with it are just versions of the pro-tips in my video about the Keeley Dark Side. That pedal also has multiple tape heads, and I found some cool ways to abuse them, which can be translated to the Volante. (And unlike the Dark Side, the Volante can be stereo.) The Dark Side vid is here if you want to check it out: Keeley Dark Side: How to Be Advanced kzitem.info/news/bejne/sYaqsa2bpqeFn20

The subtle vibe thing really is magical and worthy of being "advanced" in the practiced restraint. I love the Wilson haze Vibe for this particular thing and it can get nice and chewy phasey too

that pedal is super cool but I actually haven't been able to come up with surprising uses for it, or like the kinds of sounds that are so outside its intended purpose that I would consider them pro-tips

I can sppreciate the nod to simplicity to open the example of how the pedal performs. But the Vibe is inately an intense modulation device and in practical use should showcase as much in my opinion. Otherwise it just gets lost in the mix as a trem/vibrato vs a true vibe that contains a through zero watery flange effect. Different strokes for different folks, and not everybody has to sound like Hendrix or Trower. But again, the Vibe context just seems to get lost in this demo right from jump.

I appreciate the comment. For what it's worth I make these videos knowing there will be many other channels--including the Strymon KZitem channel itself--that demonstrate the pedal in certain ways, and so I try to find uses that I think are cool and unlikely to be covered anywhere else. As a result I usually try to defeat the purpose of any pedal I get, and the innate character of a vibe pedal is something I tried to obliterate from the moment I opened the box.

Ummmm I definitely didn’t get what I was hoping for from this video. I love Univibe and it is a very versatile effect. This pedal looks to be amazing but I was hoping to get some ideas on how best to dial it in for classic iconic sounds.
@CyberattackWorld

very accurate that my video is not going to be helpful for that. I bet you can find good demos of how to get the classic sounds out of it in Strymon's own KZitem vids about it. Thanks for checking out my channel.

No secondary functions? That was always the icing on the cake. You cant have cake without icing!
@CyberattackWorld
Жыл бұрын
I'm a fan of Strymon secondary functions, but none of their new pedals in this style of enclosure have any, which I think is deliberate. My sense is that this line is supposed to be stripped down and appeal to people who may have been turned off by the complexity of the other pedals. So I think no secondary functions is part of the identity of these new ones.
