My anti-aging and functional medicine doctor recommended most of this too. Her recommendations to me were the following. Tulsi tea to help reduce cortisol, eating whole, organic foods whenever possible- avoid processed foods, sugars and sugar substitutes, Paleo diet (based on my inflammatory gut issues), meditation, exercises like yoga, piyo, or walking, natural beauty and hygiene products (chemicals we use on our body absorbs into our skin and our livers must process them- I use a salt stone for deodorant) drinking filtered water, avoid plastic as much as possible (it altars hormones), drink home made bone broth for collagen, fermented foods, Inner Ecco probiotic, and some other helpful lifestyle changes such as paying attention to what type of containers I store food in (should be glass), what metals I bake on or cook with (avoid aluminum- use stainless steel, some ceramics are ok, iron skillets). I was also advised to not do high intensity, high impact workouts. Low intensity, low impact for no more than 30-45 minutes three to five times a week was her recommendation because anything more increases the cortisol which leads to weight gain, sleep disturbances, and increases risk of cancer.

I tried intermittent fasting, eating only one meal per day. It made me miserable and after two months I had only lost 500gms! Eating less is not the answer! I had a high stress office job which I retired from at the end of last year and have been steadily losing .5 - 1kg per month without even trying. I put it down to reducing stress and moving more. It’s not much but I figure it took several years to accumulate the weight, so as long as it’s heading in the right direction I can be patient.

I fast overnight. I stop eating at 6-7 pm and don't start in til 6-7 next morning. Depending on what I ate the night before might be earlier, but I ALWAYS drink water first til I am sated. I space out my eating and make sure protein is in EVERY meal and snack. Nuts, seeds, jerky, fish, legumes. Right now I'm in transition and adding veggies as I go. When I was fed up with gaining weight (thinking: where will this end?) I cut back on sugar in general, I eat 3 meals a day, no unhealthy snacking in between, fruit once a day & some nuts. For a healthy gut I eat fat yoghurt (with oats or granola) in the morning. And I do a little intermittent fasting every day. So no eating after dinner for 14hrs. I lost some weight very quickly and the weightgain stopped. Furthermore I have accepted that I will never be a (european) size 38 ever again.

@@cherifitzgerald7772 The important thing to know is that intermittent fasting is not about eating less, but about WHEN you eat, giving your body time to do repair work and stuff (sorry, that is not a scientific explanation but you can look it up, I just can´t put it into the right words). A 16 hour gap between supper and breakfast is what is usually recommended. After that, you can eat as much as you need as long as it is healthy.

It may be a signal to check electrolytes. My alternative M.D. gave me MgTaurine (magnesium taurine, Miller Pharmaceuticals) to take in the evening after I told him I was anxious after my 3rd pregnancy and delivery. He said with the placenta I lost lots of electrolytes. I've been taking it ever since and my fears of a panic attack disappeared for decades. When I was 65 a couple of years ago, he added Perque's Mg Plus to take during the day since my anxiety had increased. I've also heard that Mg Threonate is good for anxiety. Mg is also excellent for the heart.

I think incorporating strength training during perimenopause is key. We tend to lose muscle mass as we age and need to hang on to as much of it as we can. I lift heavy weights 3-4 times a week and try to do some cardio or walking also.Even doing this I still need to lose some weight, but the exercise helps me mentally cope with some of the other issues of perimenopause

Was overweight my entire life, tried every diet and resulted in failure. The weight got worse after 47. At 52, I tried the keto lifestyle for a week and couldn’t believe the way I was feeling inside out. Very sharp clear mind with great all night sleep, no hot flashes and the other symptoms went a way. Never felt hungry and always satisfied. So I stayed on keto. Never worked out or walked, but this diet has kept me so active that I couldn’t sit for long like how I used to. I was on the move, even to check and work on my garden several times a day. After 3 months my doctor was puzzled with my overall health. Worked on expanding my real estate business like never before and still growing to create a small scale empire of my own. I’m 58 now, my skin looks amazing and people think I’m in my early 40s. Still on keto lifestyle and enjoying life to the max 🎉 IMPORTANT! Educate yourself before trying keto so you can achieve positive results safely and happily.

I am on a similar journey as you, I have been very thin most of my life until peri-meno. I already eat plant based, and moving to more of a whole food plant based diet is helping because of all the fiber. I am using plant protein as well in the form of supplemental, tofu, beans, and vegetables. I think it may be harder if you have 20 lbs or less to lose. I have about 20 to lose, and it is going very slowly. The more weight one has to lose usually seems like a quicker journey than for those who don't have as much to lose, just my experience.

Added to this was the second lockdown and my figure is now ... comic. However I do not give up, I keep in mind the positive aspects of this learning which is a real journey. Also thank you for sharing, as well as your sense of humor.

Thank you for the interesting insights. I feel more hopeful now. I never got to experience perimenopause because I got breast cancer in my mid forties and was thrown straight into menopause. I’m just two years out from beating cancer but now I feel like I’ve got to get used to my body all over again as recovering from cancer and primarily chemo and surgery which has changed my body so much and now menopause. Before cancer, I was thin and strong and healthy and now I’m getting rounder and all my normal exercise and healthy diet make no difference. My body feels like it’s ten years older than it is. So much to learn still on this recovery journey. Glad to have found your videos! Thank you. ❤

I went through the same thing. Getting slammed into menopause after chemo is just awful, especially when you are trying to deal with the breast cancer. I want to encourage you. I’m 15 years cancer free. Once I was off all the medication, I had a chance to deal with the weight gain. Moderate exercise and eating clean, with intermittent fasting most recently (2 years) has helped me lose and maintain a good weight. No, I’m not back to pre cancer weight, but I’m not sure that is realistic. I’ve come to accept my current body and strive for healthy choices daily. It will take time. Hang in there. You’ve got this.

@@denisedorsey2889So happy to hear you’re doing well. I’m 4 1/2 years cancer free. Had the exact same experience. I had breast cancer at 47 years old and the chemo threw me into menopause. I had a double mastectomy and I woke up a different person. Before cancer I was thin and confident and had a wonderful life and body image. It’s been overwhelming! I’m struggling to cope and lose this nasty 20 pounds and cope with menopause. After hearing this I feel hope! Thanks.

I hear you! I’m 4 1/2 years cancer free but had the exact experience as you described. It’s very tough on us because we literally woke up like this! It happened way faster than normal and we’re slammed with all these changes plus dealing with treatment and the fear of recurrence and a new lifestyle and body. Keep fighting though. I gained the dreaded 20 pounds but I’m slowly losing it by changing my eating habits. It’s a journey for sure. Good luck. Don’t lose hope!

@@justine3769 In my whole life; as a baby my parents put whiskey and coke in my bottle because I had colic, I am not surprised because I wasn't even born naturally, I was a c-section baby and my mother never even breast fed me. childhood- still drinking hard liquor, and beer, wine, daiquiris, margaritas, you name it, had an abusive mother who used terrible food as torture, she wouldn't send me to daycare with anything i wanted, no veggies and sandwiches just beanie weenies and cheap frozen microwaveable chicken pot pies and dinners, and only cokes no water hardly, i wanted fruit but once again, she'd give me canned because she knew I hated it. Tons of sugary things, white bread, chips, and candy. teens- still drinking hard alcohol. had teachers who knew but wouldn't say anything if I shared so I would drink vodka from a water bottle in class, eating disorders, over exercising and under eating, young adult- still drinking hard alcohol, always kept a handle of vodka in the freezer as well as a full bar....and i do mean FULL including wine cellar, the ramen diet...lots of ramen, eggs, tortillas and cheese and peanuts with the occasional mall sushi, adult- still drinking hard liquor, even after rehab, cooking more, but worked tons of food service, so everything in chain restaurants, i ate. These past ten years I have not eaten any notable restaurant food, and very minimal processed, such as condiments, certain cheeses, sugar, flours, the basics. I've started phasing those things out a few years prior. But I cook every day. I was making everything. Just a handful of the typical meals we enjoyed were sushi, chinese and thai food, zuppa tuscana, guacamole steak tostadas w chz and sour cream, chili and cornbread, grilled meats and veggies, stir fries, pastas, southern breakfast foods like biscuits and gravy, eggs, bacon or sausage, grits, grinders, chicken noodle soup, fully loaded salads with home made dressings, colorado style pork geen chile, and everything in between, everything home made. Now, I have officially quit drinking, still trying to quit marijuana, eventually I will have to kick coffee as well. I've been eating lots of ground beef, home made jerky (the best kind), lots of eggs, chicken, shrimp, tuna, salmon, only a half pack bacon so far, I am going to pick up some lamb because it's delicious, and some beef liver to mix with my ground beef patties soon to get more variety, but that eased me into it and I can add more foods as I go. I had added a little bit of heavy cream, and cheese after week one, but I feel I need to cut it as my inflammation is still terrible. Right now what's been most helpful is eliminating as many toxins as I can. I've already seen enough drastic change to know this is going to be the end of an indulgent lifestyle for me. I plan to stay on a meat heavy diet long term, and to only consume what Igrow and ferment myself.

Amazing tips. Defo follow those. Cholesterol is a big one as it can be dangerous for heart health. Regular checkups are a must do. Normally cholsterol should be checked every 3 months, if itbis on he higher side. Specially for ppl who have underlaying heart problems should reduce their Cholesterol. Green food, rare alcoholic drinks and regular exercise is key. I never had high cholesterol until menopause kicked in. I need to the collagen asap. Thanks dear. Stay healthy 😊
