A few days ago, I had to discard a perfectly functioning M-Audio ProjectMix i/o, which has been the centrepiece of my home studio for a good while and spend quite a considerable amount of money to replace its sound-card with a MOTU 896MK3 Hybrid, and the controller with Mackie MCU Pro. All this only to get back to where I was and be able to continue my work.
I tried to fight for the piece of gear I was used to and kept it as long as I could, but finally the time had come to say goodbye to this still perfectly working loyal piece of gear.
The story is quite funny and I’ve tried to keep the story as short as possible. But it hasn’t happened to me for the first time and certainly, this has happened to many of you too.
I must mention here that it served me very well and I’ve gained much more than what I’ve spent on it, but since with any new gear, there’s a lot of learning curve involved, it’s not usually a pleasant thing to deal with.
Have you ever had to discard the gear you were used to? Share your stories below, maybe it helps someone while choosing their own gear.
Cheers
