Hi Beatrix..Thank you for sharing the tips for CPA.. I work full time and 3 kids 6 yrs twins and 13 yrs old boys .. 8 yrs ago I passed 2 Cpa subjects at my first try...Financial Reporting and Ethics but failed Management Accounting...Now I only have 2 yrs to pass other 4 subjects to count these already passed exams...I am planning to do one subject per term...The only option for me to study at nights after 10.30 till 1.30am...My workplace is an hour distance...May I ask how many hours per day were you studying and between what times? What about weekly study hours?...I like the long hour minimum 3 hr of uninterrupted kind of studying as I learn more when I concentrate on .. Have failed any subjects in your CPA journey...What subjects were hard to pass?.....Looking forward to hear from you ..Thank you

Hi Filiz, I imagine it will be very challenging to juggle work, family and study time. Luckily for me, I only had to juggle between work and study when I took CPA Australia and I manage to pass all the subjects without any fail. The recommended study hours for CPA Australia is 10-15 hours. But I personally think it takes more than that recommended hours per week. Again, it may differ to each person. When I studied last time, I tried to read and go through the material while I was commuting on public transport but if you driving to work, you will not be able to do this. I also normally crammed my study time during the weekend. I found the materials from the Knowledge Equity (KE) helps tremendously in understanding the subjects. So make sure to watch the video and attempt the sample MCQs. KE also have a timetable to remind you by particular time, you should have studied till certain chapters. Try to catch up as much as possible to the timetable. I personally feel if I fall behind too far, I even feel less motivated to catch up on the study as the burden is too much. Regarding the subjects, I think Global Strategy and Leadership also another subject similar to Management Accounting. Unfortunately, I don't have any particular suggestions on how to pass these subjects as they are not my main strengths as well. But once you passed these subjects, make sure you select subjects that in line with your work so you sort of have a basic understanding on the subjects. I hope you can relate or use my above suggestions to pass the subjects. I wish you all the best with your study. Cheers, Beatrix.

Thanks Beatrix for sharing your genuine comments. This is very useful for a beginner like me. Just one question, did you get similar marks for practice exam and final exam ? Also, are they were of same level , i mean, was final exam more tougher than practice exam? I have my first subject ,ethics exam in few weeks time. I started with so ease, but after quizes and mid sem, scores are not good. Thanks for reply
@beatrixwilly
4 жыл бұрын
Hi @Seb, the exam question difficulties will vary as the system will jumble the questions. So, I can't say which one is more difficult. I would think once you familiar with the practice exam questions, the final exams questions shouldn't surprise you anymore. Don't get discourage with the result you get from practice exam. It's just part of the process to train you to get used to the exam. You still got time to improve your exam technique. Just a suggestion, once you finished doing practice exams, go to the solution and study the answer of each options (why they are right or wrong). Sometimes, I understand better by doing this rather than reading paragraphs in textbook. Btw, good luck with your exam! :)

Hi, Beatrix! You mentioned that you started in 2017, and completed it in 2020. Estimate of 3 years, what were the recurring fees that you had pay over the 3 years? I mean I am assuming, for example, that you had to pay the annual membership over the course of the 3 years? And is it just one fee for all exam subjects, or is it paid per exam? May I also confirm. you mentioned that there are multiple choice questions, and short answer questions. Is this correct? Is there a definite number of MCQs and short answer questions per exam, or not really? I have so many questions. I hope you can help me understand the CPA australia program better. Thank you, Beatrix!
@beatrixwilly
3 жыл бұрын
Hi there, the course fee is paid when you took a subject. Currently, the fee for early enrolment for a subject is AUD1,140. So for 6 subjects will be around AUD6,840. The annual membership fee will be paid separately from the subject enrolment. You can check in CPA website for details of the fee. The number of questions in the exam will vary for each subject. Before you enrol, you could check the subject guidelines to see what is the syllabus of the subject, how many questions etc. Some subjects would have MCQs only and some subjects would have mixed between MCQs and short questions. If you wanted to know more, you can join the information session and please check the schedule in the CPA Australia website. Hope this helps. :)

Hi Chloe, you may need to check the exam guidelines for your subject as it may varies. As I recall, if the subject permits, you can bring your own written note and textbook to exam venue. Please note that if you bring too many books or notes, you might even confuse yourself during the exam and there is not much space to put your stuff during exam.

You can do CPA (Australia) outside of Australia since the study is done online and the exam is also online nowadays (even though you might need to go to the designated exam venue). You mentioned you have worked for government accounting for 4 years in Philippines. I presume you have graduated from Bachelor of Accounting and you wish to take CPA program in Australia? (Correct me if I'm wrong). If that's the case, you can apply for assessment and see how many subjects from university you can carry forward and you don't have to repeat all the subjects in the CPA Australia Foundation Exam or you may be eligible to start the CPA Program directly. Hi Hatem, I think this is a question you need to answer yourself. After you graduate, have you decided which part of accounting you wanted to learn more or what kind of accountant you will be working as? Auditing, financial accounting, management accounting, taxation, etc. I would recommend to have some working experience in the field before enrolling in further studies. Please note that not all accounting graduates will work as accountants. Sometimes you might not taking further studies in accountancy but taking further studies in law, IT, etc. So always follow your call.

Hi, I have just enrolled for my cpa Australia program and I don’t know how to access to quiz and other study materials provided by cpa Australia. I searched in my learning but couldn’t find anything more than pdf of book.
