A really elegant solution. I bet with all that extra torque that thing would really work a posthole attachment in hard ground.

If you can’t put the space on the pole hole auger can you put a auger on the spade? It would be slow but if you want 1 attachment and only need a few holes it could be the ticket.

Post hole diggers would never have the power to pull it back up. Hard to get it out of holes at times in dirt. With roots potentially holding it the pull out might be the most difficult thing.

Neal I think this is ideal for a rental to homeowners I can see the advantages to a traditional stump grind I believe this is a safer tool for a homeowner maybe not as fast and the chips lager that will not incorporate into the soil as well but much safer.

I think that attachment needs a smaller stump? That's a lot of holes to drill and it does not look as efficient for a "big" job like this. That's just me.

Interesting video. I would also imagine that it would work better in a "newer" stump rather than that old half rotten stump. A newer stump wouldn't break apart as easily. What size tractor would you need to run that on a tractor?
@eosjoe565
2 жыл бұрын
Few if any tractors are going to have enough flow for that baby! They make three sizes and this is the mid-sized unit and it requires 20-45 GPM of flow at 2500-3500 PSI. They also recommend a case drain which most tractors do not have.

Neil - did you try this out on any compact tractors like the B2650/LX2610? Would the FEL torque/forces and hydraulic flow be enough for running this beast? FYI - Similar concept back in time: I remember seeing a display of the tools the settlers used when clearing land a century ago in Michigan. They made driftwood fences out of the stumps. It was a HUGE puller version of this tool. Not so much shaving and was drilled into the ground by a horse/donkey team circling on a track. (The Tube won't let me post a link for the pic - search for "pioneer stump puller" for a pic of the cool device.) 🐎🐴

I do think it would be okay in a mid sized compact. They have a range of motor sizes available.
@eosjoe565

@@MessicksEquip Even the smaller RSS380 requires a minimum of 20 GPM flow @ 2500 PSI. Not many (if any) compact tractors around with that kind of flow or pressure. I guess you could rig up a rear-mounted power pack.
@MessicksEquip
2 жыл бұрын
@@eosjoe565 flow is speed though, not power. Maybe I should try it?
@eosjoe565
2 жыл бұрын
@@MessicksEquip It certainly wouldn't hurt to try it. I recall someone testing one of those loader-mounted boom tree saws and it needed something like 10 GPM but the tractor only had 6 GPM. In that case it was just slow. But having the minimum be 20 GPM and a SCUT/CUT will typically only have 5-8 GPM. That's a pretty big difference.

Every machine has it's purpose. Sometimes it's limited to a niche use, other times it's widely used. This is probably somewhere in the middle. It will probably work better in some areas than a stump grinder.

I just don't see it a better option then a stump grinder attachment. I have one on my TC29d hydro that is run off of the pto and has no hydraulics needed and it can clear the stump down below the ground in no time. I just run the tractor in low and move over the stump lowering the grinder 1/2" to 3/4" at a time.

I watched the whole vid and I've got to say that looks useless and doesn't achieve a quality result. Depending on how you're using the land the stump occupies you can't just drill the stump to ground level, cover it or leave it. It will rot and the ground will form a cavity and go soft. How would it have taken any longer to dig out the area and dig the stump out? It would provide a better result and I don't have to worry about spending money on some silly attachment I won't use.
