I was lucky enough to crew on The Fall Guy for all 5 months of the shoot and I can say that Logan (Ryan's stunt driver double) was one of the loveliest guys on set. He was cool enough to chat with me quite a few times, mostly about the differences in traffic between Sydney and LA, then about what it's like to prepare for a stunt where you drive a car across a huge ravine with no safety net. As the shoot was wrapping up he managed to give me a stunt department shirt which I wear all the time. A lot of cool people worked on this movie.

@@jishan6992 Usually if we were doing a big stunt the actors wouldn't be required on set (a lot of the time the stunts were being shot on a second unit while the main unit shot other scenes that included the big stars). And in 2013, when Keanu Reeves (GOAT) directed Man of Tai Chi to honor his friend Tiger Chen from Yuen Woo--Ping's team, both he and Chad Stahelski were reminded of how to use a stunt crew to do movies. This happened less than a year before John Wick 1 came out. Ok, I will not change the spelling so that people can see what this s about. But I have two points to add, becouse I want this discussion out of my notifications. 1. English is NOT my native languege. I bet half of you couldn't write my name if I told you, and the other half couldn't read it if you saw it. And it is ok. This is not your fault. 2. In my languege letters have function, each letter always sounds the same no matter of etymology. English spelling on the other hand is bullshit. If the word "miracles" was greek it would read like "Heracles". For me he is Дені Вільньов. It would be read and written the same was he french, english or martian. I did not consider to look up his biography in order to write his name. To every one who had to suffer trought my misspelling I profoundly apologize.

Tbh, I think his movies (apart from "Hobbs and Shaw", which I didn't like very much) very much are Oscar-worthy, when it comes to camera work, editing and sound design. Plus, he is like a modern day Richard Donner, with his excellent sense of pacing and his ability to blend extreme comedy with action. I want him to direct the upcoming movie about Nina Wilde and Eddie Chase. If you've read the books, you'll know why. My daughter's horse riding lessons are just across the road from the area where they filmed the helicopter scene. Her horse did NOT like the helicopter being moved around on the crane during the lesson. The staff at the stables said they'd been really struggling to keep the horses from spooking the evening before due to some mini-explosions in something that was being filmed, but they all came out of it okay in the end. My daughter has been pretty curious about the movie since then so we'll probably check it out this weekend.

How do you figure that traffick cost the economy millions
@ChrisMcCarroll
2 ай бұрын
@@Alex-zi1nb Bad traffic can significantly impact the economy for several reasons: Lost Productivity: Time spent in traffic is time not spent working. Commuters stuck in traffic cannot contribute to economic activities, leading to reduced overall productivity. Increased Fuel Consumption: Vehicles idling or moving slowly consume more fuel, increasing costs for both individuals and businesses. This also leads to greater fuel imports, affecting the national trade balance. Higher Operational Costs for Businesses: Delivery delays and increased travel time for employees can raise operational costs. Businesses may need to compensate for delays by hiring more drivers or paying overtime. Environmental Impact: Traffic congestion leads to higher emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gases, contributing to environmental degradation. This can result in health costs and necessitate spending on pollution control and mitigation measures. Health Costs: Prolonged exposure to traffic congestion can lead to stress and health issues for commuters, increasing healthcare costs and potentially reducing workforce productivity due to illness. Infrastructure Wear and Tear: Constant traffic can accelerate the wear and tear on roads and bridges, leading to higher maintenance and repair costs for government agencies. Opportunity Costs: The time and resources lost due to traffic could have been used for other productive activities, leading to an opportunity cost that affects economic growth. Overall, the cumulative effect of these factors can be substantial, leading to a significant economic burden.

A Fun Fact about Ringo Lam: he directed a movie called "City on Fire" starring Chow Yun Fat. "Totally ripped it off" No, he didn't. The films have a vaguely similar premise and that's where the similarities end. If you were to watch the movies back to back you wouldn't feel like Reservoir Dogs "totally ripped it off" because they have totally different tones and feels.

@@RSpracticalshooting look you don't need to suck off QT in youtube comments. He ripped it off. The story is pretty much identical, he just reordered scenes and changed some details, but the plot beats and characters are all pretty much there. I love QT and his movies, but he still copied it. And like OP said, in HK films, ripping off another film/director was like standard practice throughout the 60s-90s and led to some amazing gems. Hell, Ringo himself copied Point Blank to make Full Contact, which is arguably his best movie (to me at least).

@jacoballison8237 Taking inspiration from something and ripping something off are two different things. You make it sound like Tarantino watched City On Fire and said "I'm gonna remake this movie" rather than just going "well those are some cool ideas" and writing his own movie. Again, watch them back to back. You won't be able to honestly say Reservoir Dogs is the same movie.

I did a tv series for a few years and my stunt double was just incredible ( she went on to be a well known coordinator) and my favorite thing was watching her learn my walk and just the way I moved. There is so much that’s unsung that goes into stunt work. I was proud to get an “ honorary” stunt card because I had to learn to really drive and do stunt work with horses. I’m rambling… just can’t say enough about stunt performers. You all rock. P S so cool that you let the stunts play out and didn’t cut into them too much.

Him talking about aerial awareness is facts. I did parkour for 10+ years and forget that it's unnatural to feel so comfortable upside down, twisting or rotating

Amazing movie! You can see the love and care for stunts if you're watching it. It almost felt like you're watching the directors cut at the same time. Truly unique experience

Bullet Train was amazing. I saw a trailer once and thought, "Looks like an interesting movie, I'll check it out someday." I was surprised at how well the movie was done and how good it was. The story, action and comedy all fit so well and the actors all seemed to fit into their roles perfectly.

Day 5 of asking the guys to look at the VFX from the original 1999 Walking with Dinosaurs TV series from the BBC. Not only does it have a great blend of practical and cg elements, it was also the very first attempt to show dinosaurs as living animals in a documentary rather than as movie monsters. Plus if you can catch them, there are definitely a few shots where the dinosaur models clip through themselves. 😂 Definitely worth a look!

Another great interview/breakdown guys, I'm so happy these absolute legends are so receptive to talking about their movies - you can always tell when real passion is involved, and I often go back and rewatch a lot of these films within a few days of seeing these videos :)

Fall guy was SO amazing, I got sucked into the world immediately and by the half time mark I was audibly cheering for the characters whenever they did something crazy. That basically brought me a true cinema magic experience, I love it to bits! And I liked Bullet Train too, even though I watched it on Netflix, I was sold on the action just the same as on the big screen. :D

Man, it's just a bummer that this incredible work is being done during a time when "cartoonish" is still the standard for the finished product. The behind-the-scenes footage looks SO impressive and kinetic, yet what actually ends up in the final cut looks painstakingly CGed, even though it wasn't.. even if it just had a few sparks added and wires removed, a little colouring .. for me, at least, all that doctoring in post to make a movie look like it "should" these days, ends up draining the scenes of energy and impact. There's so much hard work & talent & creativity & risk & reward that goes into this kind of action, and, like they said, especially the comedic / slapstick action. So much respect for all the hard work and determination of the actors and stunt people who put in the hours to come up with these choreographies and physical challenges for the sake of putting on a good show. So I hope we get to see the trend of what's expected swing back the other way, closer to the old Jackie Chan / Keaton / Chaplin films, where the final cut gets to look more like recorded action and less like a cartoon world with the people and their punches photoshopped on top in post.

The ONLY issue I had with The Fall Guy is that I thought the credits would start with all the stunt team after how much they were highlighted throughout the film. Otherwise thoroughly entertaining and I appreciated the movie so much more having watched all these Stuntmen React videos throughout the years. Thanks for the behind the scenes!

The whole time I was watching the movie I was thinking "These guys must have watched hours of stuntmen react." All the jokes, the references to previous films like John Wick, Bourne Identity, Fast and Furious, Dune... so amazing.

There are some real gnarly train stunts (probably combined with some rear projection and miniatures) in this old silent film “Love Rides the Rails” with Monty Banks. The only video of it on the internet I’m aware of is on a KZitem channel named Russell Smith with an Australian theatre organist named David Johnston. The film starts around 7:30 and is well worth watching with the organ music accompaniment.

We need a "Fall Guy" type movie for CGI! All the actors in the interviews, "We are proud to say there is no frame untouched by CGI."

Fall Guy is probably one of the best movies I’ve seen in 5-10 years at least. It’s seemingly 75% real in the sense of stunts. Then the whole story itself then the acting on top of it. Then the whole it being a love letter to stunt performers and the history of all that. Love to see it and I want them to make bank on this movie promote the idea that a stunt man can be a director too. Or just because they don’t have the “qualifications” doesn’t mean they don’t know what they’re doing or can’t have good ideas.

3:53 - 3:58 😂😂😂😂 Niko, you glorious bastard 😂; I love the (joking) implication that the stunt supervisor didn't attempt to PREVENT that sort of situation.....but instead just prepared so that he could be a total badass and save the day 👌😄💯

Saw "The Fall Guy" in theater yesterday, it was awesome! You see the love for stunt work a mile away. I especially love that moment in the final fight, when all the stunt guys team up and rush together to beat the crap out of the bad guys. Too bad they didn't have Winston Duke shout "Stunt men, assemble!". Would've been really fun!

Hearing Bullet Train described as a live action anime makes me want to go back and rewatch it. I watched it once with zero context of what I was watching, and although there were some funny parts, for the most part I thought the slapstick was too much. But to hear it's essentially on purpose and it's mimicking anime, that makes so much sense and I think I'd enjoy it ten times as much now I know.

It wasn't until this video that I have realized that at least 3 movies of my top 5 of all time are 87North movies. They mean so freaking much to me, John Wick series of course is incredible.. but Nobody was the first movie in a long time that I watched 5 times in a couple months, it just had that staying power where it didn't get old. Same with Bullet Train and I bet once The Fall Guy comes out on streaming it will be another one I rewatch constantly, just amazing. Thank you to David Leitch and his team you have made action movies truly fun again.
