Some of us are actual amputees and the thought of doing that on-purpose for some "payday" is bizarre. If you succeed, then you live the rest of your life without your limbs & looking over your shoulder, waiting to be caught because you know you broke the law. That kind of money isn't even enough to disappear into a better life & the odds of you getting that "payday" are slim. Insurance companies are notorious for not paying out like they're suppose to & they also investigate claims that they find suspicious with a fine-toothed comb. It took 3 months for a car insurance company to pay out my totaled car payment due to full-coverage. They investigated TWICE before finally releasing a $3000 check. What a weird scam to damage your good health permanently for a POSSIBLE payout. I have no pity for someone who DECIDES to become an amputee for money. That's disgusting & disturbing. Shameful.

I am currently studying insurance pre licensing, and there are a lot of regulations and laws put into place when you sign with a policy, most of which, protect the customer and some that protect the insurer. Any big claim is looked into by a whole underwriting department, in instances of death the company has a right to know information about an autopsy and if they are alive and get dismembered or an accident happens they have a right to know what happened and conduct their own investigation on the matter if i remember correctly. Example if you take out a life insurance policy for 1 million dollars and you try to commit suicide, your claim will be denied within the first two years of the activation of your policy. There are multiple clauses in the contracts that will attempt to minimize the scamming of the insured and the insurer so in short yes, it is really damn hard to scam insurance companies.

Even a few seconds of contact with dry ice on bare skin is enough to cause serious injury. 10+ hours was total overkill, and definitely torture. 7:31 TIL cutting of your own feet for an insurance scam is not illegal as long as you don't actually follow through with submitting paperwork. If you just cut off your own feet, you're golden.

In the 70's my grandpa built a roll cage that he could put in and out of cars and a ramp. He would then crash trust fund kids from his colleges luxury cars in the middle of the night. They would get the newest model of the vehicle and he would get a percentage of the insurance pay out. Apparently since there weren't any cameras back then he made about 6 figures and never got caught.

$1.7m is basically a 40 year career at median household income in the United States. Just raw gross wage, not including asset appreciation or anything. Dude literally preferred to give up walking and everything that goes with it-to not work a regular ass job like everybody else 🤣

No, insurances prices are HIGH in Louisiana because of rampant fraud. I pay $2000 for six months. I got break checked by a middle aged woman at 5 mph and she walked out and said no big deal to the slight bump, then my insurance called me and said she’s suing them for injuries. It’s literally the advice here, to fake injuries if you get hit for money.
