I had a stye which seemed to be healing. I thought I would place a warm compress to speed up the healing and some light eyelid massage. The next day my lid swelling up so much I couldn't barely open it up. The pain which was initially localized had spread well my entire lid and beyond. I couldn't even get out of bed. I finally got myself to a doctor who prescribed antibiotics and eyedrops. I just have to say I have never felt so much pain in my eyelid as this experience.

THIS!! I have gone through SEVERAL videos on the net, but THIS is THE ONE I NEEDED. You explained the situation so well! Now I fully understand the difference between a stye and a chalazion. This means I have a healing stye on my right eye and a chalazion on my left which is gradually reducing in size. Thank you so much for this video! Better than my doctor for sure

I’m 5 days with stye (hordeolum) on my right lower eyelid. It got swollen and red after pool water got inside it. been using breastmilk as eye drops twice a day, cleaning my eyes with liquid baby soap/shampoo every time it’s itchy or clumpy. It popped yesterday after I applied warm compress of boiled egg wrapped in a tissue. Now the pus is draining, with blood sometimes. And I’m sensitive to the light of big screen of TV, not to my phone screen though thank God. But it’s not as tender, sore and warm as before since the pus is already draining out. I hope to God it will go away already because of its discomfort. I did not take any pain reliever tho. Just probiotics supplements and Vitamin C. I bought over the counter eye drops for red and irritated eyes but I think it doesn’t really work unlike the breastmilk, so I stashed it away. I also sleep a lot since I limit myself to screen time. It’s just so annoying to wake up with crusty eyes from the dried pus. I wash my eyes and face with warm water and liquid baby soap/shampoo. I also avoid meat now because it can worsen my inflammation. I drink turmeric latte twice a day for its anti-inflammatory properties. I may be low on vitamin A so I should have that pumpkin soup I’ve been wanting to have. Also need to eat carrots. After all vitamin A and beta carotene are good for the eyes. 7 days update: the pus is all gone and it’s not tender anymore. It is healing and I stopped putting breastmilk and boiled egg warm compress on it. I just blink when it gets itchy at times and try my best not to rub it as I’m afraid I might touch it with dirty hands. That’s why I’ve been washing my hands constantly, clean freaking. I’m also back to my skincare routine as I have stopped when my stye was really swelling. I am incorporating aloe vera for its antibacterial and wound healing properties. I massage it around my eyelids. more things I learned - eye lid massage by Dr. EyeGuy - dry eyes moisturizing eye drops to help with the drainage of the debris by Dr. Noonci - if you have diabetes and high cholesterol, more chance of getting stye - adults are also more prone to styes because they have more oil in their glands - IPL is the fastest way to get rid of styes by Eye School with Dr. D - take Zinc vitamins to boost immune system

So do I, if the stye is not ready to drain I will put a hot compression on it which helps to bring it to the eye gland so it can drain, sometimes I do get chalazion at the site a few days or weeks later but most of the time they are not sore and they tend to go away on their own.

@goodoptometrymorning HI Dr Nelson , I have had a chalazion now ( lower lid) for over 3 months . I also have a stye which comes n goes but now after watching this video I see the mistakes I've been making . I bought the Bruder mask you mentioned and I love it! Question - my eyes remain very blurry for over 30 min after using the mask . Is this normal for the blurriness to last so long? Also , do I have to do entire eye or do I focus on the lower lid where my stye/chalazion is ? I've been doing both eyes /full lids but this blurriness lasting so long is causing issues especially as I've been using the mask 4x /day for 10 min each time . I appreciate any feedback!! Thx!!
