Did you ever in your life before feel as bad as this? Did you ever in good time think my life had gone amiss? Now I feel I've been unfair 'cause I catch you hanging there. Did you ever in your life before feel as bad as this? God knows I tried a half a year but it didn't do no good. My damnedest try to make it work, I knew it never would. Now there's nothin' wrong with you, and there's nothing you could ever do. God knows I tried a half a year but it didn't do no good. The times were good, but over now, a pleasant memory. I'm sorry, there's another face one that's close to me. You know 'bout what I learned and there's no stone left unturned. The times were good, but over now, a pleasant memory. (Sigh)

I'm a big fan of Styx, have been since I was 10, but I lost a trivia contest due to this song. Which band sang Plexiglass Toilet? I'd never heard of the song before and since I loved Styx, there's no way it could Styx. I did 50/50 and since Styx was one of the remaining two, I went with the other. I don't remember what the alternative was, but I picked itand was totally shocked to be wrong. But that's literally the only reason I ever heard the song and haven't of it before or since ... other than looking it up here.

Ridiculous??? How about fun and and, oh, by the way, diverse? Who would have thunk these guys were capable of such a sound. That's called talent. These guys proved with their Bang Masters album they can do classic rock, folk, blues, etc...Would have been nice to cover a reggae song, as they have shown they have the ability. It's pretty RIDICULOUS someone would think that small minded when a band branches out and has a little fun! Truly a band that has NEVER been given the credit they deserve...

Dennis had nothing to do with Plexiglas Toilet. It was both Johns, Curulewski and Ponozzo, goofing around and wound up liking it. They look it to their bandmates and Dennis and JY both said no way in hell. So the two jokers spliced it onto the end of the song and snuck it onto the album.

I've loved this whole album since I first heard it back in 1982. The verse that says "...enchilada..." sounds almost like it's being sung by DDY, as it sounds somewhat like some of his characature voices he did later on. Also, they did the sped up voice technique about midway through the song, that sounds like the muppets came in. :-) The "ahhs" in the background behind that are genius! It gives the *appearance* of quite a few various ethnic families gathered around, and ...

Actually, Curulewski didn't officially quit Styx until late 1975, after they were signed to A&M Records and Equinox was released. After the creative free-for-all of TSIR and MOM, Dennis put his foot down and declared a moratorium on such songs as Plexiglass Toilet. No more "joke" songs and music. Concept was the order.
