The version Tommy Shaw performs in Cleveland with the youth orchestra is absolutely outstanding too. Miss the late 1970’s. I’m. 55 and grew up on Styx, Boston, Kansas and REO.

Truly a golden era and we were grateful for those that respected pure musicianship. These types of bands gave me such a wonderful childhood. To see them nail it playing live was just the greatest feelings in the world. I’ve seen over 100 concerts from Blue Oyster Cult- Ozzy/Randy Rhodes- Megadeth-YES- STone Temple Pilots- Molly Hatchet- Fleetwood Mac- Iron Maiden - R.J. Dio - Rossington Collins- America- SoundGarden- Def Leppard- Tool- Joan Jett-Alice Cooper- J Geiles- ZZ Top- Foreigner- Judas Priest- Bad Company- Foghat and I could keep good g on and on. I haven’t seen a concert in 3 years but I’m m going to a 3 day rock festival in November. That may seem like a long way off but it’s fine with me as long as they don’t cancel. I really wanted to see Metallica which I finally will but the main band I’m going for is Lamb of God. The Lynyrd Skynyrd band will be on the bill. I’m not too big on a Skynyrd band that doesn’t have Ronnie and Allen but I just want to see Gary cause I don’t think he’ll be around too much longer. I’ve never seen Styx but I’ve always loved them! What a killer band especially in their prime! Thank you God for Rock and Metal 🇺🇸👍🏻🇺🇸❤️

Styx, in my opinion, has got to be one of the best rock bands of all time. Remember, that is "my" opinion. I was a teenager when they came on the scene. I liked their music secretly because I was a new Christian. Therefore any music like this was evil. That was my opinion then. Styx sang about real issues that effect the lives of real people. There are few bands today who tell it like it is.

When I was twenty this piece entered my mind and swirled around like an unworldly calliope. The twelve string sweetly serenades with meditative strumming. Good vocals harmonize and the slippery-slide synth teases and enchants over rolling drums. Anthem-like singing leads to the energetic ending, with the keyboards doing aural gymnastics. Kind of warbling-like.

Saw them for the first time at the Los Angeles form back in the 70s. Still my favorite band at 62 years old. We played come sail away at our high school graduation Corona del mar class of 79. My daughter bought me tickets for Christmas and is taking me to Styx at the Venetian in two weeks. Bucket list.👍

@@cm1133 Bet he's the pride of the state. I asked if he's sign a birthday card for my sister in law and he thought that was such a great idea. he took my card and went around and got the band to sign it

Best of all times is what Styx is!! Great to hear their instruments and voices and not drowned totally out by superficial bass and synthesizers

I sort-of discovered styx in 1979,when a friend got tickets for their concert in Wheeling,WV.So I,another friend and the wife of the friend who got the tickets left for Wheeling on a cold and snowy March evening. Now, I have to admit that I was Not a Huge Styx fan then, but that all changed on that Magical evening in 1979. Styx was touring with the" Pieces of Eight" album, which I had listened to only a few times, but after that evening I was hooked! Now,I'm a HUGE fan! Thank you,Styx! God Bless!

Man.. John was such a good drummer when he was still around and nobody really could have ever replaced him, but Todd Sucherman really does a damn fine job on the skins. Seeing him play live is even better than watching the video
Both drummers were fantastic in their own ways. As Chuck wrote in his book (a great read, btw) John brought the thunder, Todd brings the lightning. Paraphrasing, but that was the gist of it.
