Something you should mention here is that you can't just use any material o-ring. Refrigerant gases will eat through materials other than EPDM.

Hi everyone when Subaru tells you this: Upon actual check on the unit and after diagnosing on aircon system we found out the cause of the low cool : found out worn out aircon orings so as part of the replacement we also have to replace the expansion valve , thermistor and filter drier as a consumable item that has to be replaced. I have no idea honestly what they are saying. My question is, when u change aircon orings, automatically do u need to change expansion valves etc? Pls help. Thanks

@@appleko14I think it’s just recommended to replace these parts since you have the a/c system drained anyway. Kinda a get it while you’re in there type thing.

Most often when the Subaru a/c system is leaking refrigerant it is because the compressor o rings become brittle and fail just like in this video. The seal at the front of the compressor can also go bad, in which case you pretty much have to replace the compressor unless you know someone who can rebuild it. Absolutely critical you don't disconnect the hose until all the refrigerant is out of the system.

Using a dirty rag to clean an ac line is not a good idea. Tape off the exposed ac holes. Bare hands are better. Just sayin. Not trolling. Also, oem o rings are better.
