Much appreciated. I couldn't find the drain plug at first. Also definitely agree that they should have a maintenance reminder. My gf's Accord tells her the oil life, and what maintenance items are needed every time.

Do not fire up engine with a new oil filter. Subaru has designed an oil priming system into their cars with inverted oil filters. Press the gas pedal all the way to the floor, then turn the key to start (engine will not fire up). Keep doing this until oil pressure light goes out. Now, car is ready to be fired up.

Im not saying your wrong. But I find that hard to believe since gravity will drain the oil filter over night. So are you supposed to prime the oil filter every morning? There is no check valve from stopping the oil filter from draining. Only reason oil came out of the filter when I removed it is because I literally ran the car to warm it up.

@@JJsSpeedShop I've actually never checked, but I believe once filled, the oil filter stays partially filled.

@@dinh71Yes you only need to do it on oil changes. Accelerator pressed all the way down, push start button and let it crank for about 20 seconds. If the oil light is still on just repeat for a few seconds more. Obviously you don’t need to do that every morning as you shouldn’t get low oil warning.

Well today it was due for another oil change and after sitting for five minutes I confirmed the oil filter completely drains out. So literally no need to prime it.

How often do you change your oil on 2023 Crosstrek? Was reading for synthetic it’s anywhere 7500-10k but seen some change it around 6k to 6 months. I drive a lot, primarily highway and interstate.

Do you ever use a torque wrench for the drain bolt or just go by feel?

I just go by feel. I’ve been doing it my whole life
