one reason a part of the population will never go electric.
@miltonkirkpatrick8451

But electric would climb out on the first try. Has the be the right motor, transmission and drive train, sure, but the same goes for a car if you're trying to get it out of Ol' Mickeys Hot Tub.
@JeremyPetho

An electric motor would be ideal for crawling and general off roading, they have lots more torque and require less gear ratios. Once light weight batteries are developed further, electric motors will be common in serious off road rigs.
@SpencerHHO
9 жыл бұрын
On a smaller scale Rock crawling is dominated by electric. They can produce at least 4 times the torque for the same power and some 3 phase motors can produce more than 90% of the torque from 500 rpm to 15 000 RPM so you wouldn't even need a low range gear box for off roading and on road you don't need a transmission at all.
@bighands69
9 жыл бұрын
Lonnie Milton I also think that electric motor configurations have not really been experiment yet in cars to their full potential. Batteries are the issue at this point. But there are thousands of battery research groups all over the world and one of them is going to crack it. it took 3 guys to crack transistor designs. What is going to happen is that there are probably going to be several different battery architectures that come to market. Hydrocarbon engines will still have their place though but 99.99% of the population will not need them.

Pretty much some guy had the thought that a subaru would be a good, cheap, reliable crawler when you put some heavy duty equipment under it. Yeah it's obvious the axles, wheels, tires, lift, and probably transfer case and other parts aren't factory, but I like the idea regardless.
