I have also never had to change a wheel bearing on any of my cars which makes me wonder if the salt plays a part in their demise also even though they're sealed. I have 6 cars......two with over 200k miles, three with between 100 and 200k miles and 1 with 80k miles.

Two years ago we found a tool called the Hub Shocker. Works awesome on the rear Subaru bearings. Just have to pull wheel speed sensor first and use a 10 pound sledge hammer. Tens years experience at Subaru dealers and I've only had one wheel speed sensor bolt break on anything newer than 2009. Love the channel !

I had one very stuck on bearing on my wife's outback. I used a 3 jaw puller and it split the bearing apart with the hub still stuck. I saw your video trick 04:02 on how to hammer the hub from the rear. I have a basic level 18v cordless Ryobi hammer drill. Using your method, I was able to hammer the hub loose from behind, then use the jaw puller to remove it without it splitting apart. Thanks for posting this.

Thanks for your contributions to the automotive repair industry. I am currently fighting with some rear subaru wheel bearings. It's a terrible design. I had a 2000 A6 2.7T Quattro with tiptronic trans in limp mode and I am broke. Bought the factory service manual for the car and trans. Under automatic trans the car book says "take it to an author service center". 17 hours flat rate to remove the trans. I had it out in two long days. I never had an auto trans apart before. Had it back together in four days and back in in a day and a half. If I can do it you can do it.

!!! I always remove the speed sensor!!!. If the bearing is rusted into the knuckle and it won't come out with the hammer as it often is. I do this. I leave the axle bolted to the splined hub. I remove the e-brake shoes and I slide the e-brake cable out of the tube on the backing plate. I then pry the axle partially out of the differential. I install the slap hammer on the hub. I heat the knuckle around where the bearing seats. I have someone slap the slap hammer while I hit the hub with a hammer. Leaving the axle bolted prevents the hub from coming out of the bearing while slapping with the slap hammer.

A note on retirement: I took medical retirement a while back. The first few months were great. Then you get bored so you find stuff to do. Then you find more stuff to do. And some more. They say that when you retire, every day is a Saturday. Wrong. Every day is a Monday because you've got no more excuses not to work. Never worked so much in my life. Now if you'll excuse me, I've got a Ford dually that needs some battery terminal love and two flats. I need a vacation from retirement.

Prior to starting to watch your videos about a year ago all I had ever done was oil and filter changes. I have since done almost everything possible to a car including swapping out an engine and transmission all thanks to you. I rebuilt a different one by watching Pete’s Garage who is also great but not nearly as entertaining as you and yours. I sincerely appreciate all the energy you put into your channel. If you don’t have any Wyoming license plates I have several different designs I could send you for your collection. Thanks again.
