Thanks for posting this video! Had a small leak during torrential rain; everything pointed toward the drain holes but mine were clean. Checked the depth of my sunroof and it was below the roof line. Easy adjustment. I used a Torx 25 bit to loosen screws on each side. Push up on that side & then tighten front and rear. Repeat on the other side. I did try doing fronts and then rears as mentioned in the video, but for me, that didn't seem to get the glass as high as doing the left side then the right side. Hope this helps others. Again-- thanks for posting!

The frame on the sunroof bends easily. You can bend the mounting tabs if you lift one side and not the other. This is why you want to push on the front or back to lift it. Mounting holes are on left and right side. So pushing on front and back will not bend the mounting holes on the sides of the sunroof, but pushing on one side can bend it. I replaced mine from a hail storm, and the replacement was bent on the mounting holes and another part. I had to straighten it all out. Glad you fixed your leak, but side mounting tabs is the reason I said to push on front and back corners, and not the sides. If the mounting tabs are bent you can't tighten it all the way down and it might fall again. The sunroof frame bends like it is aluminim. I used pliers to bend it back and reshape it.

I have a bit of water on my driver side floor and left rear floor. have you seen or heard anything like that? It's raining now, I tried taking a bucket of water and pouring it on to see if I can track the water. The carpet under the pedal isn't wet it kinda seems like the water is falling directly onto the carpet but the sunroof doesn't show any signs of being wet

My head got wet in my 2024 OBW in the car wash. The drivers right corner was lower than the other corners. This was easily fixed with your insight.

Thanks for putting the time and making this video, but this is for Outback. Won't work for all Subarus. I have a forester and the sunroof is totally different. Maybe add Outback to the title. Have a good day.

Sorry it didn't work for you. I thought I said in the video to vacuum out the drain holes. Every 2015-2019 Subaru uses the same sunroof except the Forester. (Legacy, Outback, WRX, Cross Trek). So these instructions work for all Subarus. Only 3 things cause a leak.( Crack in glass, sunroof seal, or drain holes clogged.) Every sunroof drain hole can get clogged, and I did say to use a shop vac to clean the holes in the video. I'm sorry you missed that. Did you watch the whole video? I had to vacuum up glass in my drain holes. A Forester sunroof leak comes from cracked glass, or clogged drain holes 99% of the time. The Forester's sunroof has shims so it won't fall down. You probably need to vacuum your drain holes like I said to do in the video. If you watch someone elses video they will tell you to shove something down the drain hole. I am the only one telling people to use a vacuum so they don't dislodge the drain in the A pillar. Which causes it to leak inside the car. A shop vac will also suck up water. There might be water in the drain holes. So a shop vac with the right attachments works perfect for removing mud, water, leaves, glass, etc.

@@sleepwalker29 I stopped watching the video when you said that this works for all subaru's but forester. That's why I was saying it would be nice if you add 'Outback' in the video title so you could save some time to people like me. I really appreciate the fact you put the time to make this. It was just some positive criticism. That's all. Once again, thanks for the video and for taking the time to respond.

@@sleepwalker29 I literally just arrived at my father's house where I keep all my tools. I have a neighbour who is a car mechanic and tomorrow we'll be looking into it. I tried scouting as many videos as possible so I can get info and knowledge on the case. I'll leave a comment with an update in the next 24h :) Thanks for the interest.

@@sleepwalker29 So ... my sunroof was cracked and it dipped bellow the ceiling level in one of the corners (result from something heavy smashing it). The actual glass is attached to a frame, which attaches to the base frame, which is attached to the ceiling. The openings of the base frame, where you screw the glass frame are not round but oval like, so you can adjust the level of the glass frame. After we inspected it, we loosened the bolt at the dipped end and leveled the glass frame with the ceiling level and we concluded that only the glass needs changing. It rained that night and there was no leak. This week I'll be going round the salvage yards looking for a glass to replace my cracked glass and that should do the trick.

Do you know if this works for the 2015 subaru forester XT touring with the big moonroof also?
@sleepwalker29

The Forester moonroof is different. It has shims that prevent it from falling down and 10mm nuts. If it leaks it must have cracked glass, or clogged drains. Vacuum the drain holes. They make computer keyboard cleaner attachments for a shop vac, and the small attachments will fit in the holes to vaccum them. The Forester don't have any adjustment for the moonroof like the Outback and WRX do. So I would vacuum drains and look for cracks in the glass.

@@sleepwalker29 thank you for the quick reply. I could have sworn i noticed the moonroof sitting a little low how you described in the beginning of the video instead of up high thats why I thought "awesome now I know whats wrong" lol. I think the seal around the window is just getting old! I usually blow the front drains out with compressed air from my compressor.. I can't figure out how to get to the 2 drain holes at the back of the moonroof to clean/blow out
