Great vid, thanks for getting to the details and not adding fluff. Add Snow, mud and water to the title and you may get more hits. Also, what are the tires on the vehicle and what year is the cross trek?

@Booboobear-eo4es

@@shinshishi1 - Actually they do. Subaru has had the head gaskets of their boxer engines leak oil for 20 years and has done nothing about it. It took a class action lawsuit by owners to get them to fix the problem. (www.torquenews.com/1084/subaru-settles-oil-consumption-lawsuit). Subaru also extended the warrantee for their CVTs for another 10 years in anticipation of problems with those transmissions. (www.forbes.com/sites/jensen/2017/07/07/facing-complaints-subaru-offers-extended-warranties-on-1-5-million-vehicles/#5685e19d79dc). Toyota had to recall some of their 2019 Corollas for CVT problems. (www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/toyota-2019-corolla-hatchback-recall-cvt-problems/. Nissan CVTs are a nightmare with some going out early as 50K miles. There are Nissan owners who swear they will NEVER buy another one. I personally had a 2009 Toyota Corolla with a re-designed water pump that quit at 60K miles. Although not a big deal as a transmission or engine, Toyota knew their water pumps were flawed but did nothing. Starting in 2010 they (again) re-designed their Corolla water pumps so as not to leak. Didn't do me any good as I had to pay out of pocket for a new one. So yes, car companies do make "mistakes."

I live in Brazil and we don't have many options from Subaru. Here we only have the New 2022 models, Forester 2.0 aspirated and hybrid and the XV 2.0 aspirated hybrid. I'm thinking about purchasing the XV 2.0 model 2021. 156HP and 20 kgfm, FB20 engine What do they say to me? We only have 3 stores and a few workshops, but they say Subaru doesn't break down!

Pardon my English, it’s not as shiny as a Subaru. I have been doing this job, journalist and automotive photographer, for forty years and when someone asks me what car you recommend I always answer: what assistance do you want? Today cars are all quality products except for Stellantis and its brands. If you decide to buy Subaru you buy an excellent car, both the Forester and the XV. Toyota is a great car too. It depends on how much money you want to spend and which model you like best. What do you need it for, how many kilometers do you drive per year, what taxation is there… If you want to take a look at my photographs and articles on Subarus, go here [](lucastories.18x24.it) here instagram, me and subaru italia, for a lot of subaru [](instagram.com/lucaromano_pix) [](instagram.com/subaruitalia/)

The cvt in australia does indeed act like a proper 4x4 when needed. My wifes 2018 cvt XV actually performs better on the snow and less knarly terrain than my Colorado with full low range, rear locking diffs.

... It uses x-mode (button push) to focus the power to each wheel more effectively but is only good up to 20mpg or so... Manual cars get a 50/50 split all the time, cvt models have move fwd bias when the awd system doesn't detect slip
@marktaylor171
Жыл бұрын
Ok, so whether it's manual or CVT, it has the same cemetrical AWD setup. When it senses wheel slip, the computer applies brakes to the slipping wheel to prevent the power from bleeding out through that slipping wheel. This allows the power to continue being distributed to wheels that are not slipping. This has nothing to do with manual or CVT. The system also has a protection feature in the system. This system is designed to prevent wheel slip, and if you try to use an excessive amount while this system is trying to do its thing, it will cut power to the wheels. This is because if all the tires start to slip like they would under excessive power the engine would just end up fighting the brakes, resulting in transmission failure indefinitely.

luca romano ..Alrighty Then! Thanks for those important insights. Just a side note.... Did you know Toyota is building an All-Wheel Drive version of the 2020 Camry Sedan? Saw one youtube about it. Now it’s only limited to a 4 cylinder. BUT some experts are theorizing that Toyota might release, sometimes in the future, a Camry Wagon which could give the Subaru vehicles a run for their money. It would be the first time is several years Toyota has actually had a car-based All Wheel Drive system. Vensa was a truck-mechanics-based SUV but often mistaken for a car.

Can't, sold it and bought a Jeep wrangler… not that the Alfa could not do serious offroading, but i could not fit 30" spinner-rims on the alfa so i went with a jeep...But seriously, i did actually drive roads pretty similar to this track in my alfa a couple of times when i was out hunting. It had about 1,5" of ground clearence but as long as i drove with one wheel on the side and one in the middle i was mostly fine... though the bottom of my gearbox was flatter than stock after a couple of years...
