As a young Marine i spent 3 months At Subic in 1988.....one of the best times of my life, the more things change the more they stay the same.

I'll bet it was next level back in 88. I can totally understand why it was the best of times. Thanks for watching nd the comment.

I spent my Birthday in Subic last December. Nice place to relax and take in a few good restaurants. Though I spent a lot of time in the 🇵🇭. I hadn’t been to Subic since my days in the 80’s stationed at Clark. A lot has changed but some things are still the same. Thanks again for sharing my brother you keep it interesting with a variety of locations. ✌🏾

There are a number of surprisingly good restaurants in Subic. But I suppose a lot of retired military there open little spots and bring some good old American style to the cooking and food choices. Thanks for the comment and always watching. I'll try to keep mixing it up.

Thanks for letting me know you liked the video. I can't say which is the best. They all kind of have a different vibe. But I do like John's steakhouse for dinner, and the hotzone is always fun. And the live music queen Victoria bar is also pretty fun. Check the FB link in the video description for the lowdown and updates on Barrio Baretto bars, events, and restaurants. There are some newer, upscale hotels and restaurants as well.

I was in Subic at the Naval Station a few times from the early to late 80's. Great times. I have fond memories of friends that I met there and going bar crawling with my friends from the Engineering Department. The Stoned Crow is where most of the Engineers hung out. My LPO married a gal out of the Sgt. Peppers club (they are still married and have beautiful grandchildren now) and we used to go there as his in-laws ran the bar. His mother-in-law used to hook us up with young ladies that wanted to bounce around with some drunk squids. Good times staggering back to the ship down Magsaysay. One time my buddy and I got so drunk we couldn't remember the name of the ship. We finally told the Jeepney driver "it's got a big 61 on the island, can't miss it." Had some language issues as he kept saying we are on the island. Great times! Don't remember how I got back to my rack, until my friends hauled my still drunk ass out for quarters.

Sounds epic, and also par for the Subic course. Sometimes I wake up and see videos on my phone or cam and I have no recollection of those moments. But it's always fun!

Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad to hear you are enjoying them. I do all the editing it's very time-consuming. But I enjoy the process. Editing, and sometimes writing/scripting, is the best part of producing videos for me.

@@itsManilaBaybeethat’s great that you enjoy the process that a lotta people outsource. You have yourself a MacBook that you work that on? I’m planning on doing it all off an iPad just barebones editing cause I’ve seen some travel channels have success like that but idk how feasible it is yet.
@itsManilaBaybee

@@traveledpov It's been a great undertaking, and opportunity for sure. I mostly use a MacBook and find it's the bare minimum required for the editing I do (like this) ▶ kzitem.info/news/bejne/t7CByG18gmmreaQ Consider Storage. I have 20 TBs of hard drives that I archive and catalogue like 10 years of video on. I keep most all the originals for B-roll and stock videography/photography. I'm not sure how storage would fit into your process. But 4k eats up a lot of space. And shooting/processing content in 4k is also a consideration in the world of giant smart TVs.

fantastic vid as usual 🔥 definitely putting subic bay on the itinerary? how would you recommend travelling there tho? (e.g., private hire, bus, taxi)
@itsManilaBaybee
2 ай бұрын
Thank you, I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the video. A private ride/hired car is always a plus, but it's definitely more of an expense. Especially if it's round trip. The tolls now are pricey. The bus is ok, it's air-conditioned, usually not too packed, and you can always buy an extra seat. Basically it's cheap and I think there is an express. Then it's a quick tricycle or taxi ride to Barretto.

That's possible, a U.S. dollar goes a long way here. It's tougher to really vet a solid crew though. So many transient expats roll in, and a few months later, even a year - They get blown out. It's great, but not for everybody it seems.

Ur Burgos st. vidz are better, it seems more live on Burgos. That Barreto area looks more like an old farts hang out 😂. Ur honest opinion Eric, what do u like better overall, Burgos st or Barrio Barreto?
@itsManilaBaybee
2 ай бұрын
There is a lot more to P. Burgos than just the street. That Poblacion area is a nightlife hub, it is lively. There are a lot of retired types in Barretto, it's like a mini Angeles, but on the beach. For nightlife Burgos is more diverse and vibrant. But I like both vibes. I like Barretto because it's cheap and there is a beach. But I can barely do a full weekend in Angeles, so Burgos is probably better.
