This is a song exclusive to the sublevels of the Submerged Castle. Unlike any other cave song in the game, it has no randomized elements, no extra mixes, nor does it follow any of the parameters that would alter tempo or the notes in the song. It is a short loop of an irregular rhythm on an unidentifiable percussion instrument, and dissonant harmonies between 4 different human voices. These numerous irregularities can be very unnerving for a listener, especially after listening to a soundtrack that is known for its high degrees of musical adaptivity. Immediately, players will feel something is very wrong within the Submerged Castle...
Instrument ramblings (Feel free to ignore):
Honestly, very little to ramble about here..! The two only types of instruments here are also both of the highlights. Currently, it is unknown where these samples came from. Totaka has a knack for sampling his own voice in his music, but this is something that will be impossible to confirm, especially because of how short the waveforms are. (They're only 2-4 wavelengths long! These are some of the tiniest samples in the game.)
I love the attention to detail on them - they all have very dynamic vibrato tracks on them, changing in intensity on certain pitches. This is the wobbling effect you see on each voice in the oscilloscope; note how the effect intensifies throughout each phrase of the song!
The percussion instrument sounds something like a brake drum, though I've witnessed others occasionally hear it as a piano.
