You can also use the Polygon Fill mode on the mask layer to quickly select the raised part that you want to set as emissive. That works even for different shapes and not just for straight lines.
@JayAnAm
5 жыл бұрын
No, because the raised parts are no geometry, they are just baked into the normap map.
@davepctech1559
5 жыл бұрын
Ah, it looks like you didn't include low poly extruded panels, they are all part of the normal map only. That seemed a bit extreme to me at first (but depending on the depth of the extruded detail it could indeed work fine with only the normal map though, if it's not too intense). I might have included the extruded part in the model, and only used the normal map for the detail after the bevel and the cracks, etc. Then I would have used the Polygon Fill mode with either poly mode or the UV property to select the emissive parts, that would have been more accurate. Otherwise if you only have those in the normal map, you can use the particle brush and tweak the MaxDeriveAngle and NormalFactor to perfectly fill the area. But I guess in this instance it was still relatively quick to use the square brush so that works as well.
@JayAnAm

@@davepctech1559 Just have a look at the previous tutorial : kzitem.info/news/bejne/0Husmnihjpl9hWU The goal was to bake all the high poly changes (also the extruded faces) into the normalmap.

I have a question. If I am using the vraymtl-metallic roughness template, the emmisive slider does not appear in the shader settings(the emissive channel is there by default). However if I use pbr-metallic roughness, the emmisive intensity slider reappears in shader settings. Does this mean I cannot use vraymtl-metallic roughness with emissions or am I missing something?

Applying the emmision in Maya works but i can't find any glare map to apply. I'm using ai standard. What is the the glare effect exported as? Or should it apply automatically with the emmisive channel? I see the emission in Maya but with no glare effect. Last question, the roughness map exported from substance painter, is it for the diffuse or specular when working with ai standard?
