Successful NDPS Search and Seizure Operation Conducted in Padu and Silli Villages.

Mariyang, Sept.20:- On 19th September 2024, a major NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) search and seizure operation was conducted in Padu and Silli villages of Upper Siang district. The operation was led by Magistrate Mrs. Jyoti Borang, Circle Officer of Mopom, and ASI Kaye along with his police personnel. The Head Gaon Burah (GB) and GBs from both Padu and Silli villages, along with Dr. Jayanto Perme, President of Padu Movement Against Drug Abuse (PMADA), Shri Kangong Lego, Secretary of Finance, PMADA, Shri Ojing Tayeng, President of Silli Movement Against Drug Abuse (SMADA), and Shri Appir Osik, General Secretary of SMADA, were also part of the team.
In Padu village, the homes of six active NDPS abusers and suspected peddlers were searched. Meanwhile, in Silli village, five similar suspects' homes were inspected. During the operation, the biodata, photographs, vehicle registration numbers, and contact information of the suspects were collected. NDPS-related substances, specifically opioid drugs, along with abuse-related equipment, were recovered from two homes in Padu village.
The local residents of Padu and Silli villages expressed their appreciation for the proactive efforts of the PMADA team in addressing the growing drug abuse problem among the youth in the region. Dr. Jayanto Perme, the President of PMADA and a senior veterinary doctor, has consistently emphasized the importance of guiding the youth toward a better future, stating that bad habits need to be corrected through awareness and positive intervention.
Dr. Perme reiterated that such operations would continue in the future, despite potential resistance from certain sections of society. He firmly believes that these efforts are essential in safeguarding the future of the community's youth.
