Can only respond with "great minds think alike ". Sometimes I do a "twofer"............watch Norris kick the crap out of him first, (where the "age" excuse doesn't hold water) then for "dessert" watch the "relatively" light punching (which is WHY I think Leonard made the fight. Didn't think a blown up 130 pounder could hurt him) Camacho, destroy him. Camacho was still fast, and VERY ring savvy. To Leonard's credit, he was able to convince alot of idiots he was a GOAT.

@@mysterymango1873: Catch weights: LaLonde, Hearns II, & III ( If it ever happened). Waited for Hagler to get older: Idea started 11 /09/82, @ Leonard's Retirement? Party. Hagler went there expecting Leonard to announce their SuperFight. Leonard announced:, "It'll never happen". Look it up online, if you wish. Between 2nd Leonard Retirement ( he retired before), and the actual fight, Hagler had 8 fights ( including Fully Obel 10/30/82), fought 62 Rounds, ( including Hearns, Duran, Mugabi) PLUS all the training. THEN after THAT wear & tear, Leonard felt he could handle Hagler, so agreed to the fight. Made Hearns wait 8 years for rematch. "No Mas" fight, he acted like an idiot, with Bolo punching, & mugging. He KNEW Duran was out of shape, before "No Mas", and he PUSHED to make that happen right away. Duran stupidly ( probably GREEDILY too) agreed. All this is indicative of Leonard's, and his advisor's ( Mike Trainer) intelligence and marketing savvy. Leonard fought 1/3 the amount of fights as Duran, & earned 3 times as much. 40% fewer fights than Hagler, & Hearns, & earned twice as much. I'll again say a very shrewd, manipulative guy. He COULD fight, but when he had 40 fights, and in his last two fights got pounded all over the ring, I for one question his GREATNESS.................very good, & very smart yes. Great NO!!

I didn't watch the video. I refuse to watch it. Ray and Ali are my two favorite boxers of all time. Just about all fighters want that next fight, even when they know they are getting old . It's always best to quit at a certain point, because if you don't there's always a younger fighter who will come along and be more than happy to give you that lesson that you should have learned on your own. No matter who you are, you can only be great at what you do for a finite amount of time, then Father Time taps you on the shoulder and says, 'that's it, kid!" It's only when you refuse to listen and accept that you're not young anymore that the hard lesson comes.

This proved Ray was an opportunist at best as fighter. He was a great welterweight but not Middleweight. He was always favored by the judges especially against Hagler were he had clearly won that fight even before it began. Here he thought it would be easy pickings as the fight against Norris also proved to be not so.

You're a clown. Many great fighters make the mistake of going on too long and get opportunities because of celebrity status, Ali being one of them. Doesn't take away from their abilities or accomplishments as fighters. And if Hagler won that fight before it even began, he wouldn't of completely lost the early rounds. It was extremely close, not some robbery. Try watching it again.

This was not the Sugar Ray I followed since his beginning career his Olympic fights when he was younger. In his prime he challenged people weight divisions over the divisions he started in. People like Marvin Hagler which was a hell of a fight he was in. You have to watch these fights yourself to realize how far Sugar Ray Leonard came Way before this fight! I did not remember this fight and when I watched it before I wrote this comment, I just knew Sugar Ray Leonard was going to Dust Héctor Camacho‘s Suit off he wore in the ring. And walk off out the ring after the fight with Hector’s Roman headgear on his head... And as I sat there watching the fight. I said to myself that’s not the Sugar Ray I know! I knew Sugar Ray was in trouble... I used to race my little son.. After I retired from running had been racing world-class sprinters in my youthful past, I would give my son a 30 yard Headstart on a 100 yard football field and I would catch him before he got to the hundred yard line on a football field he was fast for a little guy of 13. Eight years later I gave him only a 10 yard Headstart and I couldn’t even catch him anymore.. The older you get you will lose your touch especially when you’re happy and you’re eating good every night and living a good life which Ray Leonard has lived.. but I’ve also followed Héctor Camacho‘s career as well and Hector was just as fast and quick as Leonard was in his prime. But it was time for Sugar Ray to retire completely forever. My hats off to you Sugar Ray and your time in your day nobody can touch you. But when you took on bigger opponents.. I saw the change coming specially when you fought people the likes of Marvin Hagler, The awesome Hitman Hearns and not to exclude the punishing puncher Roberto Duran.. these guys were in their prime so the damage that these three fights olonev put on Sugar Ray Leonard even though Sugar Ray won all three matches.. those particular fights left the everlasting and unforgettable scars with Leonard.. But to get in the ring again with the likes of Héctor Camacho a young quick and fast kid Leonard had the heart of a lion! And I salute Leonard as one of the true legends of the fight game.. hats off to you Hector I noticed you held back a little Leonard should be thanking you

Was just watching 35-year old Camacho against 24-year old de la Hoya. Never liked the Macho at those times of these , his bouts, because of the arrogant projections, though we all know most of boxers who used these were all mostly for publicity and scaring tactics. Now, as sort of reviews of these much more interesting fights of yesterdays, I find the respect for him because of the way he can take those incredibly powerful blows to the head. And still doesn't get knocked out.

Ray Leonard actually "in my humble opinion" should have and, could have won that fight! He didn't because, he didn't respect the public enough to inform them "before the fight" of an injury he had to his leg! All he had to do was, let them know that: If I can't give and, do my best, I can't fight! I don't want to disappoint my fans! Simple as that! The fans would still love him and, he gets to get himself in top condition "again" and, comeback 6 months or so later and, wipe the floor with Mr. Camacho...BUT NAAAW...He just had to go ahead with the fight anyway, under estimating Camacho and, everything and, under estimating the fans too...who felt that it was a money grab! Camacho KOd the fk outta him and, we felt cheated! (not taking anything away from Camacho) Leonard was the bigger guy period and, "if" he could have just pushed off of his leg, the way that he wanted to, things would have went very different but, for real...because of Leonard's PRIDE and, the Money grab....it just couldn't and, wouldn't be the way...it really was...supposed to be!

@@evnstvn58 No Sugar Ray could not beat Camacho at that age. He explained in the interview his body could not undergo the training that he needed in order to fight at a top level Usually boxers do some preliminary training before taking a fight to see if it responds to training. If it doesn't they retire. That's why you hear so many stories of boxers contemplating a comeback that never materializes

@@DanielSong39 That's your opiinion and, you are entitled to it sir...I think he could have if, he had not suffered a leg injury that they kept quiet about leading up to the fight! Ray was bigger, stronger, and, he hit way harder than Camacho! He couldn't push off on the leg like he was supposed to! I think he still thought that he could deliver! For me personally, I thought he should have pulled out for another time but, you know some athletes...the money was there...it may not come again...can't let the people/fans down...plus the famous one of all...I gotta get that money attitude! All of those factors, played a part in why he lost! Barring all those factors....Ray Leonard would have wiped the floor with Camacho...in my humble opinion!🙂🙃

Even tho we can never know and Camacho was one of the best of his era, I’d have to favor Sugar Ray in his prime from his mid to late 20s against a game Camacho, Sugar Ray at 40 with his damaged eye was only a shadow of his former self in the ring, I see no shame in it for Ray, it’s sometimes kind of sad to see the greats after they’ve aged and are at a point where it’s time to retire. Many ppl. don’t know that Sonny Liston was born on a cotton plantation the 24th of 25 children. Beaten daily by his father he ran away as a kid and never went back. I think he was 14.. not positive I’d have to look it up…Sonny TRUE date of birth was always in question, Sonny didn’t know, Sonny was illiterate also. He said very little…He went from the Deep South to St Louis as a kid, became an enforcer employed by mobsters including Frank Carbone. While serving about 5-6 years in state penitentiary he stated boxing. Sonny got out and demolished every amateur in his path, as a pro he destroyed almost every opponent. He avenged his 1 early loss by KO ing that opponent. It’s said that he had to have been in mid 30s when he finally got title shot and brutally KO d Floyd Patterson 2 minutes into 1st round . He had 84inch reach, power in both hands, his left jab was stiff and very powerful. He destroyed an obviously fearfull Patterson in the rematch a year later. Sonny was hounded by the press and police and booed a lot. After finally winning world title in which he was called uncrowned champ for like 5 years….he finally gets a chance, wins and expected to be greeted with a crowd and fans and the mayor upon his return after becoming world heavyweight champion, the most coveted prize in all sports in those days. Sonny was crushed when no one showed up at the airport. By 1962 when losing to Ali,( I hope this date is correct) I think so, sorry if not SONNY LISTON would have been about 42 YEARS OLD WHEN LOSING TO CASSIUS CLAY( MUHAMMED ALI) Ali was 22 ….IN THE REMATCH It’s said by authors who really researched Listons life and had alot of connections in the sport , it’s said that Listons friend Joe Louis told someone about LISTONS WIFE AND CHILD BEING KIDNAPPED , LISTON TOLD HE HAD TO LOSE THE REMATCH TO ALI OR HED NEVER SEE HIS WIFE AND CHILD AGAIN , LISTON HAD WORKED FOR THE MOB, HE WAS BOUGHT AND BACKED BY MOBSTERS UPON GETTING OUT OF PRISON. THE 2nd Ali fight shows a glimpse of what’s known as the phantom punch, it looks like Liston faked not being able to get up from the “ knockdown “ He went on to fight and win like 10 or more straight fights after, never had a shot again tho. I’ve never seen footage of boxers getting so brutally KO d other than Mike Tyson when he was young and climbing the ladder to winning the title, so Tyson’s 1st 5-7 years because Cus Damoto died very early in Tysons career, he trained Tyson so masterfully he appeared absolutely UNBEATABLE. His skills, defense and movement continually declined after Cus death and upon Tyson meeting Robin Givens and Don King
