I was cheering for Ray, but Hearns won. I thought Hearns was a shot fighter going in, but he obviously wanted to avenge the loss to Ray. But notice Hearns speech is slurred. The Hit Man took too many punches while dishing them out. But both are Lengends that has done the sport proud. God bless them both.

ESPN used to do this all the time back in the day. After the big fights ESPN would always have a reporter interviewing one boxer and in the other locker room they would have another reporter interviewing the other boxer and then they would show us live coverage of the post fight press conference. These days ESPN's coverage of even the most major boxing events just isn't the same as what it used to be.

I don't think he did, because 2 point rounds are equal to 1 knockdown rounds. Other than their 2 point rounds, it was close: maybe a draw was the best way to score. It certainly wouldn't be biased toward knockdowns as a lot of judges are and/or biased due to the fact that Hearns lost a heartbreaker the first time around, but scoring shouldn't be biased for any reason...If they gave Ray two 2 point rounds and Tommy two 2 point rounds, I can see how it might have been draw...

I believe they waited until they believe Hearns was past his prime after he got knocked out by Iran Berkley and had a hard fight with James Kitchens they figured it was the perfect time to fight him and give him a rematch..Notice after this fight with Leonard. Tommy said he wanted a rematch guess what he never got one...When Leonard fought Duran the first fight and got beat..They didn't give Duran time to train because if they did he would have beat Leonard again...Duran wanted a rematch he didn't get one until years later after he was well past his prime ...

@@JohnRobertsonwithme I agree with you too...If Mayweather fought at that time he wouldn't be 50 and 0...Plus his fans always say he broke a record that been broke a long time ago..Ricordo Lopez went like 50 and 0 or 51 and 0 Chavez sr was like 71and0 at one time..I don't see Mayweather beating Duran...Duran was so good he moved up from lightweight and beat Learned he was so good until they didn't give him time to train for the second fight .Because they knew if they did he would beat Learned again. They new that was the only way to beat him..And Hagler would beat Mayweather..Again they waited until they thought Hagler was past his prime thats when Leonard fought him even then they got Hagler to give up a bigger size ring so Leonard will have room so Hagler couldn't cut the ring off and bigger size gloves so it would take the sting off his pouches but if you ask me Hagler won that fight...

Leonard was a great fighter, but he was not as skilled as Duran, Hagler, or Hearns. He was fast, and he proved he could take a lunch, but he could not deliver the power of the other three and his defense was not on par with Duran and Hagler. However, Leonard and his team were far more adept at marketing the Sugar Ray image and using that to schedule fights to their advantage. Leonard was always in a position to offer a fighter a greater share if he fought when and how Leonard wanted. With that, he was the only fighter to defeat the other three. You have to give him credit for finding alternative ways to beat fighters who were better than him.
