I used to use liquid Stevia daily, mostly in drinks. I rarely use anymore and believe that change has helped my gut. Love using honey, maplesurup, and lower processed organic sugar.

I'm not trying to defend stevia. I agree it is not optimal, but from how my body feel using the various sugar alternatives in the past, stevia has been the one I feel least negative side effects from. In the context of nutritional health from the studies you shown here, at the moment I think it ranges from not optimal to bad. As human beings I argue we don't consume things 100% of the time for the sole purpose of optimizing nutrition. (I suppose one can debate that it would be more ideal that 100% of what we consume must have nutritional value.) I haven't looked it up but I would like to see a more carefully controlled human trial with a control group (regular sugar), versus stevia (that means no stevia products with any sugar alcohol or artificial sugar included, which are often packaged together), versus sugar alcohol and/or artificial sugar. Mineral water with a few drops of stevia have been the least offensive sugar water alternative for me. If there is net negative on my liver and overall health over the long term from having 16-24oz of spring mineral water + 3-4 drops of stevia per day, I would like to know the extent of the damage I'm doing to myself according to a human trial. My view on this will change as I am given more information or more studies come out. One food additive common in beverages that to me is worse than stevia and sugar alcohol, based on how my body feel, is citric acid, which I learned is made from feeding black mold and contributes to inflammation. And similarly, tartaric acid probably have issues too. I felt much since avoiding processed beverages with these type of ingredients and simply stick with real fruit juice and mineral water (sometimes stevia drops added).

I am coming off of about ten years of a low carb diet ( learning a lot through your podcasts lately) and use a ton of stevia. So this is a hard pill to swallow, but i'm thankful for the information nonetheless! Do you think jaggery is ok to use? Its just like brown, unrefined sugar and is super flavorful.

3 years stevia daily no issues. My efgr is 100. The diet nature designed for us is lean meat and low glycemic high fiber fruits and vegetables. What differentiates humans and our pets from other animals diets is we are the only animals eating processed foods period especially pure starch, sugar and oil. Pure fuel in a whole food system is what is causing metabolic dysfunction.

In the end everything comes back to calorie management. Did you get all macro and micro nutrients you need and have calories to spare? You can eat plain sugar every day.

Hey guys, great videos, just checking a few of them out! I’ve heard you speak about carbohydrates are signal of abundance, so metabolic rate can be high/optimal etc in this environment. Can you please explain why being in an environment of fatty ruminant meat (low carb/carnivore), providing tonnes of fat calories, wouldn’t be seen by the body as that same abundance? If you’re still getting energy and a calorie surplus/enough calories from fat rather than carbs? Also- wouldn’t the body be really hungry and crying out for carbs if they were necessary? Where as I get satiated for hours and hours on just protein and fat, so hard to see how the body would be happy like this if it was missing the carbs..? Hard to get my head around this.. 🤔 Not arguing- just interested! Thank you!

@@RobWardley Good questions! I can add my experience. When I did carnivore, I didn’t crave any carbs (or anything really), but I had very little physical energy, and I had more issues with migraine. I tried electrolytes, high fat, etc. Nothing helped, and high fat just made me gain weight. Thankfully I found Jay and realized I needed to add carbs back. After three months, my energy started to return. It’s odd that I didn’t crave carbs since that’s what my body needed. Maybe it’s because I was eating allulose sweetened ice cream every day, and it “tricked” my body into thinking it was getting carbs. 🤷🏻♀️ Regardless, I’m so glad I left carnivore after 7 months, as I believe it was stressing my body and also potentially was starting to damage my thyroid.

@@JFwellness thanks Jay! I’ve already watched them all haha. So basically the argument is that fat is a less efficient fuel, with more reactive oxygen species produced, so the body prefers a high carb environment to run off glucose? I still don’t understand why I wouldn’t be starving for carbs and be able to fast for hours eating carnivore, if it wasn’t optimal.

@@RobWardley I know a lot of people who have been on low-carb for a long time and have intense cravings for sweets. I think initially low-carb can feel good because of the stress hormones produced when carbs are restricted (kind of like a daily adrenaline rush). Then once you're burnt out you'll likely crave carbs. My opinion!

And sugar tastes soooo much better than stevia!! I’m also amazed how it seems to bring out the flavor of foods in amazing ways that other sweeteners just don’t-and it doesn’t take much either. I can’t believe I’ve deprived myself of sugar for so many years! 🤪 Lately, I mainly just use it in ice cream and in milk if I’m adding something like matcha tea powder or cocoa powder.

@@bryanutility9609 I hear you!! 😂 I had to cut way back on my fat intake and change to lean meats and low fat cottage cheese, etc because the same thing was happening to me!! 🤣 I still drink whole milk though for the fat soluble vitamins, and my ice cream is half whole milk and half heavy whipping cream (no eggs), when it used to be 100% heavy whipping cream! 😅 Haha! @@bryanutility9609 😂😂 Have you tried using Cronometer to track your calories and macros? It’s really helpful! I would start doing that to really get a good picture of what you’re consuming. I mainly eat lean ground beef (93/7) with some type of seasoning, fruit with cottage cheese, potatoes, and whole milk. 😆 Oh, if I add in coconut cream though, I can eat more calories without weight gain! Mixed with mustard, it makes an awesome sauce for potatoes-or meat, etc! If you’re over 40, you could be low in testosterone. Male glandulars could really help you! For ice cream, here’s my recipe: * 2 cups whole milk * 2 cups heavy whipping cream. * 1 cup sugar * 1 tbs vanilla extract (can also add 6 tbs cocoa powder for chocolate!! Some fresh strawberries added is also awesome!!). I then spin it in my Cuisinart 2 Quart Ice Cream maker for 25 minutes, and I then transfer it to a freezer safe container and freeze it. ☺️
