One must remember, up until the 70s records were usually no longer than 3 minutes long. Radio stations would not play anything longer. In the 70s, rock and roll began moving to the FM dial; and FM rock stations would play longer records. But AM radio still held to the 3 minute rule. So, many artists released longer songs as album cuts, with shortened versions to be released on 45 rpm. AM stations played the 45 version while the FM stations played the album version. There was a station where I grew up that would play entire albums, and would tell you what albums were coming up. Get your tape deck ready.

I grew up in Denver, where this band hailed from. In the 70’s the best live music around was in small clubs that served beer that only had an alcohol content of 3.2%, but you only had to be 18 years old to get in. Prior to rebranding themselves as Sugarloaf they were known as “Chocolate Hair”. They blew the roof off those clubs.

The "Green-Eyed Lady" in this song is referencing Gaia -- [the Earth] -- With lines about the ocean, and thinly-veiled lyrics like "Dressed in love, she lives for Life to be", the groove & beat help one to 'connect' with the One True Mother.... Shower thought/galaxy brain moment I just had after four decades of performing and listening to music: A guy like Jerry Corbetta of Sugarloaf playing a groovy rhythmic solo like this one on a Hammond organ is using exactly the same approach and the same rhythms as a DJ cutting records. I never heard it before watching Jamel's reaction to this song. Seriously, think about it - play this solo on a turntable instead of an organ and tell me what it sounds like. It's so hard to believe that people who love music dont know all these songs. Growing up, I listened to all my parents, from the 40' & 50's. Then I've listened to everything since. 60's through now.

“Do it again... let me give my face a break...” dude, I just want to hang out with you. You have the best vibe! At the end of a crazy day, your videos just make me smile. I grew up on a lot of the music you react to. It makes me stoked to see you enjoy classic music. ✌️

In high school, early on, there was a girl with the most startling green eyes I have ever seen. She was slim, graceful, beautiful and so far out of my league I could not imagine even saying hello to her. Of course my infatuation with her evaporated over the summer and I had a real girlfriend that fall who, of course, was also way out of my league. (Aren't they all.) "Green Eyed Lady " was released and received lots of air time during my insanity and to this day, 50 years later, (OMG) I still see my "green eyed lady" with perfect clarity whenever I hear this song. Thank You.

One of my favourite songs of the late 60s & 1970s! Pretty much a one-hit wonder! The instruments were played incredibly well giving this song some hip moving boogie. I loved it and still do.

Seems like this is one of those songs that used to get played on oldies radio a bunch but has been getting squeezed out by all the "new" oldies they keep adding. This is why what you are doing is so important Jamel.

I absolutely LOVE your reactions. They get me going and I thoroughly enjoy jamming with you Jamel. :) Everything you listen to is what I grew up with and it gives me great joy to watch a young man get into it just like I did back in the day, and still do when I hear it again. Thank you for your joy and enthusiasm for something that came out of my generation. It was a magical time, that old musical era. It is in my blood and it's wonderful to share it with the younger generations. Your reactions are so much fun and I love the way you get so into it! :) Bless you for sharing your heart with us.

WOOOHOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! To continue the Green theme I highly recommend “ Green Onions” by Booker T and the MG’s- it COOKS! They were the house backing band at Stax Records in Memphis and played for all the soul acts there including Otis Redding at Monterey Pop. Booker T also kicks it at Daryl’s house LIVE on Green Onions, too.

The talent displayed during that jam session is out of this world. The way the guitar, keyboards, and drums weave together is breathtaking. The mathematics involved here are hard to achieve. Brilliant musicianship.
