I am from a little further south and east of Sullivan. I had fallen asleep having sat through like 10 hours of Ryan Hall and Andy's coverage of the storms. I heard Andy on the verge of cracking up over so much carnage in so short a time. He said Sullivan which is where I'd been considering a retirement mobile home. The Sullivan tornado kept right on chugging and just missed my brother's house by a couple miles further up near Elletsville and Whitehall. If it had not turned north rolling on up Martinsville way, I might have lost my brother. While it was doing this damage, I had my brother get on the phone and had him watch Ryan Hall and Andy Hill-these two KZitemrs saved countless lives in our part of the world last night. Hopefully I can thank them in person someday.

It was a truly sickening feeling watching this unfold on radar. I was at work. I live in Ohio. I work at a diesel shop and my boss is on emergency response team for disaster relief. He left yesterday for Chicago around 4 am. I sat at work listening to Ryan hall yall from 1 pm to 10pm on my Bluetooth radio. I cried a lot last night. @@truckerkevthepaidtourist The main part of town is a few blocks east of 41. The Walmart is just where one road meets the highway. Sullivan is not gone, but the southern tip is. A block further north and it would have hit several times as many homes (including a trailer park.) Two or three blocks north and it would have gone through the middle of town. But before I say that we were lucky, one or two blocks south and it would have hit almost nothing. What doesn't show on the video is that Sullivan was just one point along a path nearly nine miles long. And the tornado was just 10mph from being in the top 1%, strength wise.

@@Darkbirdyya originated across the river over in Illinois and small touchdown in Robinson jumped over state line and kept on going got stronger as it got toward sullivan Pulmonary reports are saying strong f3 for Sullivan. Giving 150 5 mi an hour per hour winds in an f3 and that little area where it was a direct hit there's no doubt about it that still beyond significant.

I’m from Terre Haute, which is like 25-30 mins north. I have so many friends, family, and coworkers, that have lost everything and even have loved ones being lifelined to the hospital. I’m devastated for these people and their community 🥺 I’m hoping to try and help whenever I’m able to and if I even can. Praying for Sullivan and for those impacted by the tornado and storms that are still rampaging across the country ❤️

This is why I am such a stickler with the details in the shelters we build (not saying the name) It is worth the effort when I see destruction like this. I hope my crew takes pride in making something that may save a families life some day even though the process is monotonous at times. Thanks for the video, and say safe!

I was following repeater traffic from Skywarn as I was trying to capture this storm. The repeater in Sullivan county went down due to the massive power outage so I could only hear so much. It was so dangerous that I couldn't proceed. Trees down, traffic lights out, flooding everywhere. Other spotters stated that the traditional P25 radio went down due to the outage and they were using the 800 frequencies for first responders. I want to let everyone know that I am willing to volunteer my time to help where needed. This storm cell was actually supposed to travel towards my area but it shifted. Prayers to all involved.
