Oh my god... The amount of force that is being exerted at the point of impact is truly staggering, as a blacksmith, watching this is painful because it would take me and a partner hours to work a billet 1/10th that size.

I applied for a job in a steel mill and the interviewer said "You seem to me one of these guys who want to do a couple months in a mill so they can have a look around and have some thrills and feel the heat and all that and then quit and have some great stories to tell your mates." I couldn't deny it and didn't get the job.

Seems like with that much tonnage you should be able to fully load that machine (part in each station every cycle) and you should be able to speed it up significantly. If heat is an issue implement water cool and die wear could be controlled through lube application.

Why only do one at a time? Seems like you could do 4 at time. Maybe the the molds need to cool just a bit.

I think they cant produce more parts at one time, look at the flash around the forging..., with this technology " brake flash and extrudng material" to vertical way you need lots of kilonewtons. They must be somewhere aroud 25 - 30 KN which is enough for equally loading of machine.

TheEckem I'm not correcting you because I have no idea what a kilonewton is but we ran those on an 8000ton Ajax and they would hit around 6000ton sometimes higher we didn't forge them sttem down the stem pointed out toward the operator in a 2 die blocker/finisher set up the upsetter was done in another press pre the main press those parts raw billet weight was depending on the part varied from 45 to 60 pounds ran at a 20 second cycle rate as far as running one at a time this is a trail run most likely showing the costumer the process they have set up and what there production rate would be like most people seeing this would think that this is all that this line does but it's not it's just one of possible 20 to 30 different products this line will run in a said time with manufacturing changing and new models coming out all the time the product is constantly changing and upgrading anyway when this line runs at speed they will be a part placed in each stage as it cycles there is a sprayer mounted to each die so it can spray coolant and lube after the cycle happens per stage

It's a large flywheel that builds up energy and the clutch engages and drives the press plate down. This is a tranfer press.

It looks like a driveshaft yoke. It will have a universal joint on one end and splines with a threaded tail on the other. If I am right.
