I've been trying to step back away from Instagram a little bit because it was messing with my mental health. I still like it, but I can't let myself scroll endlessly on it. Thank you for talking about this! It needs to be talked about

Exactly sis, its the scrolling that gets me. I posted yesterday some updates/book reviews but tried not to scroll like I usually do. Thank you!

❤u Amanda.... we are here for YOU, I love commenting on your page to let you know how much you mean to us out here. I hope I'm in the majority of those that don't expect you to reply to each and every comment. Your videos are like sitting down with a true friend. Enjoy your time with family - little man will grow up so fast...

@@BookLoverAmanda I picked up on that as your post played on. I've found the past couple years I've been getting better about alot less screen time - I would much rather be reading a book than reading notifications - comes with age 🤣

Amanda, First of all your heart on this issue came through so genuinely. I want to encourage you by saying that it is not a lack of compassion to establish healthy boundaries: whether that’s with strangers watching your videos and trying to communicate or family and friends. It’s quite loving to do that. You were exactly right when you said that you cannot meet the needs of everyone. That could/ should never be the role of another human. I hope you keep making content because you enjoy it. I hope that you can create those boundaries in order to make you feel comfortable. Finally, I’m completely envious that you can drive to Buccee’s anytime you choose. 😂 Us northerners cannot do that… yet!

It’s like “ I don’t want to hurt you in any way shape or form but I can’t think for you I just share my book experiences” we are all very blessed for what you share I hope others can sort that out and maybe they can even share too! I’m glad you did what was good for you so that you can keep moving forward I love hearing your opinions and I love watching you grow in the Lord and how you share your convictions again they are yours and your only sharing your not implying! Thank you Amanda keep growing in the Lord I do pray for you and I’m grateful for your videos…Be blessed ❤

Exactly. This isn't a job. This is for fun and friendship bonding and relaxing. We can't let everything become a job. We can't let anything become an idol. Anyone can use google. Anyone can read a book and find out for themselves. Top two priorities are God and family!

I am a total people pleaser too so i understand what you said about needing to say no to somethings but also yes to other things. Hard to explain lol but i get it

I enjoyed The Summer of Yes but probably not as much as you. I definitely was disappointed that a book published by TN was so not Christian. Especially when an opportunity for faith content is there and it’s not put in. Take time for yourself.
@BookLoverAmanda
Ай бұрын
Yeah it’s hard because TN is starting or has been publishing a bit more clean general fiction versus Christian fiction so sometimes we don’t know going into it what it’s supposed to be. I think the marketing of their brand is hard to understand, as someone who works in marketing because their books confuse readers by being in the CF section when I’m trying to figure out is it meant to be that or not? But yes it definitely could have benefited from the faith content for sure! Especially as she talked about fate bringing them together - I felt like we could have said God’s plan was the reason they were brought together etc. But yeah! Thank you my friend!!❤️❤️

Hey Amanda a good book I read this year that looks hard at social media but very entertaining and good romance is Famous for a Living by Melissa Ferguson. I found it to be very thought provoking about dangers of social media but yet great romance and laugh out loud moments. Just thought I would give that recommendation ☺ Lena from Arkansas , woo pig

Hi Amanda! 👋 Loved this! Summer Romance was very sweet and deeper than I expected. Unfortunately, Summers at the Saint was very disappointing. The content was just too much for me. I have read previous books by the author and enjoyed them, but they didn’t have as much language and other issues. Thank you so much for your fun videos. You always make me smile. ♥️📚

Audio can definitely make a difference in noticing language. I read a lot of military history, much written by personal account. Reading, I don't notice the language as much, but if I'm listening to audio - it's more like - "good grief, I hope you're not eating with that mouth." I'm surprised and disappointed with Mary Kay Andrews though. . . 🌻❤️

A few years ago I had a bookstagram and I had a pretty large following (for me😂) and I noticed I was always worrying about posts and how the pictures looked and reading books for reviews and answering other people. It was monopolizing all of my time and my family would always comment. I’ve been asked why I didn’t start a you tube and the biggest reason is that I think it takes over your life! I deleted my bookstagram account and now I just read for me. I notice even from when you first started on you tube to now, how much more you feel compelled to finish for reviews or trigger warnings for others, and while we appreciate that and love your content and being part of your life quite simply we aren’t your life and you need to do what’s best for you and your family. People will get over it if you can’t answer them! No need to reply, I just wanted to share that. Take some time for you. That’s super important! ❤ God bless sister!

Funny how you mention just wanting kids to go to bed! I was an all consuming child once I realized adults stayed up later. I decided from then on, I’d stay awake till everybody went to bed to make it fair even if all I did was just lie there! It made my parents crazy because I was always awake. And believe me! They tried some… uncomveentional methods of putting me to sleep that cps would have frowned upon! After a while, they gave up the pretense of a bedtime and I have been a night owl since I was like 8.
