I have deep set eyes and a slightly prominent brow. Not to mention hooded eyes with downturned corners. I've been wanting to do eye looks with the line at the brow bone but I've never managed to make it look good. I've only been doing make up for a couple of months so is it just because I'm a newbie or can it not be done? Appreciate any advice. 😊

I have hooded eyes and really dark undereye circles that are impossible to cover fully, plus they look a little deep set in the inner part. I found that if any colored eyeshadow in the inner third of my eye extends above the crease, it'll look messy. The exceptions are white and the color of my skin. So, I guess, we can try to experiment with lighter shades in the inner corner (like in the first make up), and replicate the tutorial fully, or keep the inner part above the crease clean, drawing the colored line directly at the crease or slightly above it. But I'm also not really experienced with eyeshadows so it's just my thoughts. Need to experiment more😊

You can't do these looks with hooded eyes. The crease area isn't visible when the eyes are open with hooded eyes, so the blending between colours can't be seen, making it look like a harsh contrast between colours. For hooded eyes you need one colour only from lash line to just below the brow bone, taking the colour above the crease so it doesn't disappear into the crease when the eyes are open and leaving a minimal gap between the eyeshadow and the eyebrows. Some highlight at the outer edge only of the brow bone just below the eyebrows will help to open up the eyes. If you have close-set eyes, a white or pale colour in the inner corner of the eyelid (combined with a darker colour at the outer corner) helps to make the eyes look further apart. Again with hooded eyes, you'll need to take this white shadow upwards into the crease but not quite above the crease this time. With hooded eyes you won't have room on your eyelids for all the eyeshadow or eyeliner colours in the tutorial but you can manage a graduated look from pale in the inner corner, through darker and sparkly in the centre, to darkest in the outer corner. You can also try what I have seen described as "puppy eyes" eyeliner, where it angles down following and extending the natural shape of the upper eyelid, instead of winged up at the ends because this wing tends to get lost in the hooded crease and end up looking bad once eyes are opened and the eyeliner line is broken. Eyeliner should be only on the outer edge like shown in this tutorial, because otherwise with hooded eyes once the eyes are opened all you'll see is eyeliner with a little colour sitting on top just under the eyebrow and it doesn't look so good. By keeping the eyeliner at the outer corner you can still see a reasonable amount of eyeshadow on the lids with eyes open.

@dreamer6943 this is wonderful advice. Thanks so much for taking the time to write this. I'll keep it all in mind. I've had to cool it with the eye make up practice temporarily because the skin on my eyelids had become very dry and sore. I think it is the make up remover rather than the make up. But I'll be sure to try these tips when they are better. One other thing I discovered is to do a wing from the lower lash line. That looks pretty great Also girls with hooded eyes on youtube look great with smudged/smoky eyeliner but I haven't mastered smudging yet so it looks very messy 😅 Kind of sad that I can't do the cute looks in these videos but best to work with what you have 😁 Thanks again x
