This is a small-scale ecotone. Ecotones are areas of transition between plant communities - composed of species of both communities. They are intrinsically more diverse areas. This is interesting to get the hunting perspective of this. Thanks

The best time to do this work is 10 years ago. The second best is today. Good stuff.

Thanks for the good tips. Its good to open the woods floor to sunlight by tree cutting. The new growth is great cover and food. I don't like the idea of prescribed fires. Too risky.

Prescribed fires can be incredibly safe when done correctly.

Trial and error! That particular location had been managed with 2 fires since being cut as well.

@@Whitetail_Properties I did burn them off too but only 1 time , the last 1 I burnt it iff before I cut it . That was this spring March I'm thinking . I'm working most of the time by myself so I've got to keep the burns small.

What do you do with this feathering if you can NOT burn (like here in NY) ❓

Continue to monitor with herbicide on invasives but keep cutting it sprouts get over 6’ tall. With your climate the deer may keep the vegetation within reach anyway
