A sad moment for NZ and sincere condolences to the family. We've locked down thoroughly as soon as confirmed cases were picking up, in the context of little testing, lots of tourism and other travel. The general population are also very mask averse, have largely urban but relatively low density population, and relatively limited ICU bed numbers that can apparently be doubled. So yes a Southern Hemisphere statistical outlier within the Anglosphere. BTW our reporting in Worldometer is a bit atypical also, in reporting of serious cases, and new cases as well as or first new death, not sure why.

Most importantly he keeps in his lane of expertise and doesn't comment on things he doesn't know anything about. Even if he publishes some anecdotal data he is very clear about how he received it. There are other channels doing as good of a job most of the time but they always have slipups of some political or personal opinion which isn't of interest to the general public. It's also incredible how well composed he still is regardless of having warned of basically everything happening right now months ago. It's quite boggling to think about how little has been done in time when you think about how long the information has been available.
@wildflower1397

@@robertanderson2552 Actually, he has been the least judgemental source of information on COVID-19 I have seen anywhere in the media. He bases his information on proven facts, not a racial or cultural bias. His criticism of certain countries has not been about blame... it has been about learning from our failures as humanity, and trying to warn people around the world to not repeat those mistakes. He has been more critical of his own government than anyone else. He was quite critical of China early on in the Pandemic. His recent praise of China has NEVER been political... it has been based entirely on the facts surrounding their success at containing the epidemic in their country. People need to stop blaming everyone else and spreading hate! Almost every country has made major mistakes... humanity as a whole was not prepared for this, despite scientists warning for years that we needed to do more to be ready for a pandemic. If everyone had listened to Dr. Campbell from his first COVID-19 video, as I have, most countries would have only a few contained cases today. He is a hero. 💕

I'm glad my country, Peru, took this pandemic seriously as soon as they could. Economy can be recovered, lives cannot. We know our infrastructure is not the best and thus a potential catastrophy for our society, so we had to take this seriously. We are preparing, but I predict a catastrophe here. And when the bodies start stacking we'll have the president impeached probably, because he's STILL saying it's just the flu. @@toddhowardforreal3912 you couldnt be more correct. the last i heard, we are still ONLY testing the severely ill. this is going on its 3rd week here in the states, we should be doing mandatory dragnet testing en masse, its the only way to identify asymptomatic carriers, quaratine them, and stop the spread. there should be personell at EVERY grocery store, offering guidance, testing, and gloves! we are NOT in short supply of gloves, and they could be huge in curbing this thing(if used properly), and so will up to date precise information for EVERYONE! not just those who go looking for it... the public is still, i believe, largely uninformed as to the potential of this thing if it isnt brought under control. and unfortunately, if we dont start pinpointing symptom-less spreaders, this thing may persist for much longer than anticipated. and THAT is something this country cannot survive -- these measures need to be implemented NOW, not later. safe!

Canada is not testing unless you show up at the hospital poorly. Flights direct from China were never ceased... they say that they are banning flights from hot spots.. but people come in on planes without so much as a temperature check. My son has symptoms..so does one of his roommates. The highways and roads are busy... supermarkets are busy as ever. There were 150 people in the store friday... I was the only one wearing a mask. We shipped tons of protective equipment to China mid february.. now hospitals are begging for donations of masks of any kind. My wife works in a pharmacy... no masks... no plexi screens. The Canadian numbers do not reflect reality. We will face a reckoning soon.

My husband is bus driver for city of Calgary and was not advised to use mask( but no bus sheild, no protections whatsoever) so not cause panic!! How pathetic is this!!! Now we do not have enough medical equipment.. Also more then million Canadian flew back from all around of the world! Asked "nicely" to quarantine themselves. Nobody checked on people at airports whom was traveling!! Now you can read articles about how many people knew they were sick still came home with virus with an airplane with full of people!! It's insane!! Also people don't do social distancing they are going to shop in local supermarkets if like everything is ok! Shops are full!! It's mind blowing!!!!

Dr. C, wanted to share some interesting personal data from my end. I have had all symptoms w/ the exception of trouble breathing and cough (thank God).for 19 days. I am a “healthy” 38 year old woman and triathlete so I look at my data daily (ie. Vo2 max, resting hr, etc.). Although I could nit get a test if I wanted (not critical enough), I have been fighting this thing for 19 days. Some days I feel better, and mistakenly went for a jog, only for it to return a day or two later. Here’s the interesting data from my end. My resting hr is usually 55-59. On the days I felt my absolute worst, my resting hr would dip by ten! So resting hr was 46- 48 bpm. I know I am fit, but my hr is not that low, unless I am fasting (which I was not). This goes against everything I know! When our bodies are fighting a virus, the hr increases, right? Just trying to share something odd that stuck out to me, in hopes maybe it provides some insight. Keep doing what you are doing Dr. C! Been watching you since first week of January. Self-quarantined 19 days ago, and will continue to do so.

The only reason to "not trust" South Korea in this matter is racism gone wild. Dr. John & Mr. Galloway: regarding those people going crazy because they have to stay home: There have been doctors who have studied the psychology of isolation and they have determined that it is all about their mindset. It’s very hard to break habits.People feel they are being FORCED to stay in. If there could be a widespread campaign to make people understand, it is not something inflicted upon them. It can be their choice, a wonderful thing they are doing in an effort to save other people’s lives! They are taking on two weeks of staying home as a magnanimous gesture of charity to the world. Our CMT’s are not qualified to operate ventilators, and all our military doctors and nurses are already in NHS hospitals. As you say though, at least there will be an abundance of CMT’s to arrange oxygen tanks and assist in keeping the place running. Sounds like I’m doing them down but I’m not, they’re not even qualified to insert canulas unless on a battlefield as I understand it. Would open up the military to massive litigation if a medic made a mistake and someone died, unless the government makes a cast iron guarantee for crown immunity. I think the open plan nature of the excel hospital would enable the intensivists and nurses to manage many more patients with the assistance of CMT’s which is good.

Great Job as always. The WHO should hire you as an adviser! Been wondering if supplementation of ZINC would not Supercharge the Hydroxychloroquine/Azithromycin therapy combination; since Zinc has been shown to totally stop replication of viral cells in vitro. The Hydroxychloroquine (a Zinc ionosphere) would allow Zinc to enter infected cells to obliterate the virons. Also wondering whether the "loss of smell" symptom is related to Zinc stocks being used up, causing a shortage in the Zinc dependent carbonic anhydrase metalloenzyme (CA VI) on which the senses of taste and smell rely for optimum functioning. Also do current treatments use High Dose Vitamin C and assure Vitamin D level optimisation.

According to observations of Dr Vladimir Zelenko from NY State (head of the clinic that provides care for hasidic communities of Kiryas Joel and Monsey, about 35000 people combined), prescribing 220 mg Zinc sulfate with Hydroxy chloroquine and azithromicine to patients who experience shortness of breath and/or belong to high risk groups, significantly reduces viral load. According to his words, only one of about 300 patients he treated was hospitalized, but got better without ventilator. So far zero deaths among his patients. He thinks the key is to start treatment before the patient develops severe symptoms when accumulated damage to his lungs becomes too high. You can google him, he has a youtube channel.

@@lnteIIigence I don't know about that, but there was a lot of talk that N95 masks offered little protection. I'd rather wear one than not, but I don't have any anyway. One reason they may not be effective is because they're irritating to wear and people mess around with them a lot, touching their face in the process.

I’m so confused about this. Authorities seem split on whether or not masks help the general public. I have a close friend who’s a microbiologist and she insists cloth masks do more harm than good - and another friend who’s an infectious disease specialist who insists the opposite is true.

There's a new study that found that people can be infectious up to 8 days after the symptoms are gone. Could explain the people being "reinfected" and could also be the cause for the high R0, people are simply infectious for a long time.

There is an issue with “self testing” it may swamp the health care system in any country through panic. Especially if it’s not 100% correct. You just have to look at the amount of pregnancy tests that are on the market and how well they work. Just my personal opinion.

Head of S.Korean CDC says WEAR A MASK! See v.good Asian boss interview on YT
@CSWRB
4 жыл бұрын
Yes!! This!!! Masks!!! We should ALL be wearing masks! Do it now!!! Getting most US citizens to at the very least wear home made masks in addition to doing other current government recommendations could help “turn down the tap” of spread. Home made masks are better than nothing! My mask protects you, your mask protects me. In my opinion, the US government (also the CDC and WHO) has made a huge mistake in telling people that masks don’t work for the general population in fighting Covid 19. Most people with common sense realize the government isn’t being truthful about this and if nothing else, it makes us trust the government LESS (I’m saying that as a Conservative voter who supports Trump.). I can understand they want masks for healthcare workers to be first priority, but lying and saying that regular citizens wearing masks doesn’t stop the spread will NOT age well. Getting most US citizens to at the very least wear home made masks in addition to doing all other current government recommendations could help “turn down the tap” of spread so the healthcare workers would be less overwhelmed. Home made masks can be pretty effective and are definitely better than not wearing anything! There is plenty of instruction on the internet on how to make masks using readily available materials. Heck, the governments of some other countries have even given their citizens specific instructions on how to do it. My mask protects you, your mask protects me is a common saying. We need to wear masks to “turn down the tap” because right now it’s as if there’s a sink overflowing and the doctors and nurses are busy wiping it up. If we all wear home made masks, it helps further turn the tap down.

Dr. Campbell - something that has me very concerned and that no one seems to be talking about (maybe because it is such a hopeless situation anyway) is the millions of people worldwide who are living in refugee camps. The toll will be horrendous for those poor souls. They are already malnourished and living in abysmal circumstances with absolutely no access to healthcare of any sort. the death rate will soar in those communities as even those that could have been cured with minimal medical intervention will not have that option. Before this is over, I fear that the death toll world wide will match, if not exceed, that of the 1918 pandemic.

So far, the Red Cross is not reporting any increase in illness among Syrian refugees encamped on the Turkish border....which is odd considering the virus has been established in the M.E. since early February.
