A boring and ill-thought-out presentation on how to bastardise a Makita DAB/FM radio with integrated Bluetooth functionality. This hack allows us to swerve the (frankly) awful pop shite spewed out by the identikit commercial radio stations, the music snobbery of BBC 6Music, the assumption of Radio 1 that all listeners are black teenagers living in London, the dinosaur presenters of Radio 2 who haven’t (yet) been subject to arrest through Operation Yewtree, the irrelevance of Radio 4 left talking to itself in many a deserted middle class kitchen, or the idiocy of Radio 5 as they interview meatheads about mundane sporting events or seek the opinion of Joe Asshole “man on the street” for his opinion on Brexit as he staggers out of Wetherspoons with slimy piss streaked down his trousers.
This isn’t a how-to guide, it’s just me: hungover, beer-gut in shot, and cocking about with Nigel’s radio on a rainy Sunday. Take it or leave it.
Nerds who want to get pissy: It works. Don’t tell me it’s shite and I’ve done it all wrong, we’ve had it out on site for two weeks and it’s working like a charm. Go back to your board games and spaffing one into a sock over that photo of your aunt who showed too much cleavage at that last family function.
Also, to address the comments about taking 5V from the USB port, it's not a host port, I've had the voltmeter across it and didn't pick up a 5V source there. I'm not sure how you're supposed to update the firmware via this port, perhaps from a laptop with a microUSB cable (in which case, the laptop provides the host power). And no, there's no phone charger built into this model.
People disappointed that this isn’t directly electrical site-related: We’re in COVID-19 lockdown, and I don’t intend to spend much of it sober. It’s this or Nick bloody Bundy, and you’re not that desperate yet… are you?

Note: this is not the item used in this video but is the one shown at the end which perhaps makes for a better job as no pairing button is needed.
