The story of Israel's last judge in the Book of Judges, Samson, finished last week. The rest of the Book of Judges is stories of Israel before they had kings, and Chapter 17 continues with a common theme: in verse 6 it reads, "everyone did what was right in their own eyes."
What is right? Our sense of right comes from the heart, but aren't our hearts wicked? Not only that but listen to what Jeremiah says in chapter 17:9-10, "The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked..."
When everyone does their own thing, there is lots of wickedness.
Pastor tells us that he doesn't have the whole picture, can't figure it out on his own and can't trust his heart. Wow, if he can't, we don't stand a chance.
Israel didn't stand a chance. We can't leave it up to chance, we need a Guide, a King, a Righteous King, a Holy King. One who has no deceit or wickedness, and there's only one who can fill the bill, Jesus.
Pastor also mentioned the importance of having the right king; because we all need accountability to someone. A true king will provide and protect: and to help us live up to the standard of Christ in us, Steve introduces what he calls the 3 A's: Accountability, Availability, Attentiveness.
Listen in as he tells us in detail all about the 3 A's.
Peace Shalom
