This video is absolutely incredible! I have just started my research but I feel much more informed! Very personable and professional! To demonstrate the two bikes while talking is especially impressive! Thank you!

Awesome comparison, I’m close to making the decision but have a couple questions. I’m wondering what the practical difference is between the 30 and 40 lb flywheels? Is the heavier wheel for more intermediate/advanced riders? I’ve viewed a couple of your videos on the channel, and you’ve used both bikes (of course), do you have a preference? I’m 51, getting back into fitness, and am wondering if we’d outgrow the 1879 and should spend the little extra $ on the Pro and grow into it. For some reason I’m hung up on the flywheel weight, so anything you could add would be much appreciated. Admittedly, I prefer all the features of the Pro you covered. Thanks!

if you're going to be very consistent go with the pro and grow into it. Many times people get the basic model and then become too used to it quickly and end up wishing they got the better model.

I compared the 1879 30 lb flywheel with the 1805 44 lb flywheel and didn't prefer one over the other. The purpose of the weight is for feel. It mimics the inertia you feel on the road (the bike keeps rolling when you stop pedaling). 30 pounds provides enough inertia to spin smoothly even at high resistance. With either one it is hard to stop the flywheel with your legs. A little harder with the heavier flywheel. But once you are spinning in your workout, I couldn't notice a difference.

What shoes would I need for the clip-ins on the pro?

Any SPD compatible shoes will work with our clips. However, Delta clips will not work as they are a different design.

This or 1805?

The biggest difference between the two is that the SF-B1851 is equipped with a performance monitor, SPD-compatible pedals, a dumbbell holder, and a 40-pound flywheel versus a 44-pound flywheel on the SF-B1805. If you don't need electronics, then we'd recommend the SF-B1805. However, if you prefer to clip in, the SF-B1851 would be a great choice as that model is equipped with SPD-compatible pedals.
