Captured from the real Konami TMNT2 Based hardware NOT MAME/EMULATION, I bring you an entire playthrough of the 1991 run-and-gun classic, Sunset Riders. Using a Neo Geo MVS arcade machine, a GBS-8220 video converter, a VGA to HDMI upscaler, an Elgato Game Capture HD and the built in headphone jacks on the MVS, I captured the game in 60 frames per second, in stereo sound, with no compromises. Also included is a full demonstration of the test mode, including the sound test for every song and sound effect in the game. (See time slots below).

The aim of this is to demonstrate arcade games running on their original hardware in the best possible quality. The vast majority of recorded arcade playthroughs/let's plays/speed runs are emulated and are done in MAME, which is not always accurate to the real deal. The ROM dumps of Sunset Riders in particular are in yellow, meaning there are known problems with the game, and the video emulation isn't 100% accurate. Unlike console or PC games, these PCBs won't be around forever and the collector's market for arcade gaming is much, much smaller. There's truly something special about playing an arcade game on a real machine in contrast to downloading a ROM, something that anyone can do and that only takes a minute.
This version of Sunset Riders is the 4 player version, ROM revision UAB. All 4 player versions have the characters confined to each player's controls. So if you don't have the 3rd or 4th player controls wired up, you can't select the 3rd or 4th players, Bob and Cormano. The 2 player versions have a character select screen and is preferable if you have a 2 player machine. It is possible to change the ROMs to turn a 4 player board into a 2 player board, but I have yet to do that.
While I was aiming for a 1CC, perfect playthrough of the game, it didn't happen this time, with a total death count of 9. I believe my record is 4 deaths. It's definitely in my top 10 favorite arcade games and is always a blast to play through. It's a true AAA title from Konami's glory days.
